…’scuse me but I feel uncomfortable… Logos Customer Services are too busy to answer me at present and neither the main site nor 'FAQs' seem to match what I need to know, so hence this post.

I am offered dozens of new books (that I do not want) to add to my Gold Version 3 ++ collection, for an amazing discounted price of $000s (which, I do not have).

What if I had just a couple of books in Version 3 and wanted to upgrade to Version 4 -- or is Logos now only selling books in collections?

And if I do not want and/or cannot afford what is packaged now in Gold Version 4, is my only option to continue with what is now described as “older” Version 3?

You can pay 69.95 and get the bare minimum upgrade to Logos 4 with all that you currently have plus only the books needed to take advantage of the shiny new features in Logos 4. Or you can still run Logos 3 which will be supported and after the dust settles they will even develop new content that will work on it.

Good questions....I noticed that in one of the better grades that M.R. DeHaan's
books are in it. I went to the products page and found them for 119.00 for the
set which, I assume, I can order and add them, hopefully, in the future.

You have several options.

One is to cross-grade from Gold (Libronix) to Gold (Logos4). I'm not sure that's what you're talking about or not. But the crossgrade gets you a lot of new stuff, including, perhaps, some books you don't want. On the other hand some of the add-ins for Gold are now resources in L4, and they are a significant improvement over L3.

Another is to go the direction of the minimal upgrade. If you go to this page (http://www.logos.com/upgrade) and look to the far right, just below the line that has all the package deals on it, you should see the phrase "Minimal upgrade option." Assuming you have purchased a base package, and you are signed into Logos with your Logos user ID, this should give you an option for about less than $100 and give you a lot of functionality in L4 you wouldn't have otherwise.

If you want only the L4 engine (without the added functionality) you could just download it here: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe. If you go this way, you could always purchase at least some of those books separately (not all books can be bought separately, but you probably know that).

Your final option is to stay with Libronix (Logos 3).

You can perform the minimal Crossgrade ($69.95) to give you additional v4 resources which enable you to experience what Logos4 really offers with similar features (addins) in L3 such as Passage Guide, Exegetical Guide --> http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade

I am grateful for all of the responses I have received here. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE.

I have to say that I am somewhat concerned about the absence of 'obviousness' in what was initially emailed to me by Logos and what is immediately evident on the Logos web pages. Hiding benefit in the metaphorical small print is less than open, I feel. If I had not, over successive years, built up some feeling of trust for Logos and the excellence of their product, I could be lulled into thinking that commercial dominance has now overcome missionary zeal. I suppose I have to accept reality and now treat Logos like any other supplier. But, as T.S. Elliott said: "...we cannot bear too much reality" ! So I am afraid it calls for maybe half a step backwards and at least monitoring of offers that I cannot seemingly refuse.

Given full and open information I am more than able to exercise choice but for the moment it seems I have to recall 'caveat emptor'!
