I just updated today. The app crashes out on me when I go to "news" and click on [downloaded] "10 resources to update." Error message: "The application Bible (process com.logos.androidlogos) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Then I have to press "force close."

This happened with the previous version too.

    App info: Bible

    Device: HTC Explorer

    Android version 2.3.5

Thanks for the report and duplication instructions. I believe this helps explain some of the crash reports we've received but have been unable to duplicate without some additional context.

As a side note for those following along. If any Android app crashes and it was installed from Google Play it does help if you put a description of what you were doing when the app "forced closed". Google provides developers with anonyimized crash reports as well as user comments. Receiving useful user comments including what you were doing in the app when the "force close" message appears can make a big difference or at least reduce the time it takes developers to track down the source of the problem.

I have a Kindle Fire and the update will not load on Kindle Fire and the bibles are not loading either. Using logos app. Kindle Fire will not load any software that has not gone through them for testing and it does not matter if unsupported software is checked or not.

The newest version (2.2.3) has gone through Amazon for testing and been approved. You should now be able to download the 2.2.3 update via the Amazon appstore. Are you not seeing the 2.2.3 version of Bible as being available?

The only exception to this is the Vyrso app. Amazon approved the Vyrso app for general Android device availability but not for the Kindle Fire devices. If you want the Vyrso app on your Kindle Fire device you need to sideload it.

We have in the past been able to side load the various apps by turning on the "Allow Installation of Applications" under the Settings > Device options menu (on a first gen Kindle Fire). Again this should only be necessary if you want to install a beta version of the app or if you want to install the Vyrso app on your Kindle Fire based device.

Not seeing it. It's saying I have the latest which is 2.2.

It is showing 2.2.3 now. When I try to open these bibles I get , "An unknown error occurred opening resource" which is the NASB, KJV, ESV, NIV.

It asks to retry and nothing happens. Erased and downloaded bible again same thing.

When I go into the about section under account it shows that version 2.1.2 (build 57). The Kindle Fire will not allow any later version than this to be downloaded or installed. I have tried the app store but Kindle will not install it.

I confirmed that the latest version is uploaded to the Amazon Appstore and verified that installing from the Appstore on a Kindle Fire 1st gen device installed version 2.2.3 as expected.

You say that you did try uninstalling the app via Settings > Applications > "Filter by Third party applications" > Bible then clicking the uninstall button?

Have you ever installed the app from the download link or always via the Amazon Appstore?

Highlights seem to have disappeared. I can select and highlight a text, that syncs to L5, but doesn't show any markup on my Nexus 7.

I would love for this to be a visual filter setting that I've missed - because I look forward to being able to turn off some highlights. But, I don't think that that feature has been implemented yet.

So, good update but missing highlights.

Yes I have and it will not install it. In the mean time it has just updated itself all on its own and the bibles are working.  Go figure.

I am having the same problem. Highlighting no longer shows up. Also, my highlighting is not syncing from my tablet to my desktop app.

Still have the missing highlight issue on my HP Touchpad running CM9, works fine on the CM10 alpha builds. This has been an issue the whole time, any chance it can be taken care of or moved to a top priority since there have been many issues with highlighters not showing up? I do not have the missing highlighter issue on any other app

Having issues with the lemma not matching the words in the text.  It happened 2 builds ago as well.   It seems to get out of sync around the book of Daniel.   But it's the OT & NT. I'm connected to the web in both cases (I have the L4 bible study ver.).

    Build 2.2.3 (Bible)

    I'm on the droid charge (2.3.6) and Galaxy tab 2 7.0 (4.0)

The other issue I have is that  I can't seem to use the search on my additional books (both downloaded and online) bible search is great, but any additional books I have in the Library I can't use the search function.  I don't know if this is a feature only on the desktop or does it work in Android as well.

Below is the screen capture of what I'm seeing.image

Hi Ken - and welcome to the forums

Having issues with the lemma not matching the words in the text.  It happened 2 builds ago as well.   It seems to get out of sync around the book of Daniel.   But it's the OT & NT. I'm connected to the web in both cases (I have the L4 bible study ver.).

I can reproduce this using the passage you show in your screenshot above. I'll create a separate thread to reference it and link back to here.

I don't understand this one. Search for other books works fine - you need to select a Basic search. Again it could be good to create a separate thread on this one so we can look into it more closely.

Make sure you have the latest version of the ESV downloaded to your device. I just did this (same passage & translation) and it worked as it was supposed to.

FYI: Book updates show under the News tab

I don't see a News tab on Android - I do on iPad - am I missing it?

My ESV is version 1.0.710 dated 2012-11-01. What version is yours?

I have the same version of the ESV that you do. I checked on my Nexus 7 & my phone... And I'm running 2.2.3

Also, here's a screenshot of where the news window is & where you can find book updates (I don't have any that show unfortunately)

I will reinstall the software and library and see if it fixes it.

This is what I mean by searching.

When I pull up the menu inside a resource the search feature is 'greyed out'.

Ok reinstall of the whole program worked with the ESV (gosh I love the 4G LTE and Unlimited data!).   I will try my tablet tonight.  Still can't get the search to work.

Looks like a difference between the tablet and phone version

Still can't get the search to work.

I see the same thing - maybe a limitation on non-Bible resources as you were suggesting

    Hi Ken,

Sorry for the confusion! For future reference, there's no need to reinstall -- everything looks to be working as expected :)

As LaRosa said, your downloaded resources were just out of date and needed to be updated like she showed.

The menu you're showing in that screenshot is a shortcut primarily for Bible references -- e.g. in John 1:1, opening that menu gives you a citation search for John 1:1.

If you want to search for a word or phrase, open the side panel by clicking the little gray square icon at the top left of the page, and click the search icon. You can also select text by long-pressing on it, and clicking the "Search" option that appears.

    Blessings!

Team Logos is it possible to at least acknowledge the issues with highlighters in the known issues of Release Notes? It has been a reported issue since the highlight feature was first implemented and no fix has been issued or even really addresses in a seerious manner. Not sure what the problem is as reported numerous times never seen it with other apps that have highlighting features.

    Hi Frank,

Logos does not officially support rooted devices because there are too many possible combinations of devices and firmware available.  We do support non-rooted devices running Android versions installed by the manufacturer as long as those versions are Android 2.2 or higher.

In your (unsupported) case, if you find the highlight issue is resolved with CM10 you might wish to go that route and I hope that works well for you.

Thanks for the reply Kevin. I wonder if Logos may want to reconsider the decision on not supporting rooted devices, since it is a pretty significant group of people. Is this the same for jailbroken IOS systems? Also it seems as though this is an AOSP issue and with the Nexus devices that would hinder them from having highlighters as has been reported.

    Thanks for the reply Kevin.

Thank you for being patient with us, the reply took too long.

I wonder if Logos may want to reconsider the decision on not supporting rooted devices, since it is a pretty significant group of people.

As I mentioned, there are too many possible combinations of devices and firmware available for Logos to officially support rooted devices.  When someone roots their device they have chosen to take the risk of hoping that whatever new custom firmware they install might offer benefits without costing anything in terms of application compatibility.  Sometimes everything works out, sometimes not.  In any case, Logos doesn't support such scenarios.

Is this the same for jailbroken IOS systems?

Yes - Logos does not officially support jailbroken iOS systems.

Also it seems as though this is an AOSP issue and with the Nexus devices that would hinder them from having highlighters as has been reported.

Which Nexus devices running manufacturer supplied Android versions have Logos highlighting issues?  If you know of any please let me know... I'm not stating that there aren't any but am genuinely asking.  Our development team uses Nexus 7 devices quite a bit so if you know something I don't I would appreciate it!  In the end, I hope CM10 works well for you if you decide to try it.

My stock Nexus 7 lost highlighting in the last update. As I said in my first post I can highlight - and they sync and show in L5 - but there is no marking on my tablet.

Just so the other HP Touchpad users know there is a pretty stable CM10 with all but the camera working so far. Should not be long before the working camera is ported. The Logos had highlighters working fine
