$605 to UPGRADE from Logos 4 to 5 on Platinum!?! Simply OUTRAGEOUS. I would commend Logos to reconsider this CRAZY plan and consider that we have already purchased the license for the software. Even though I have invested over $1200, I am tempted to start with another company. I am surely not going to recommend Logos to anyone right now!

UPGRADE from Logos 4 to 5 on Platinum!?

There is no reason to upgrade to the same package name. Simply upgrade to the package name thatt best fits what you need. Yes, this upgrade is comparatively expensive but that is because the new features are dependent on databases that Logos hand-coded. They need to recoup what they spent on people power creating the data.

I can assure you, you have lost nothing you have paid for. You will always retain the licenses to all your resources. The upgrade price you are being quoted includes a whole lot of new resources that will be in addition to what you already own. It is unfortunate that the base packages use the same names when so much of the content has changed. There will be an inexpensive alternative in the near future that will allow you to run Logos 5 without getting the new resources. Logos 5 needs some additional databases to really shine. Those databases cost a little to add to the mix. But we need to look at the new package contents from the perspective of "What do I get for my money? Will I use it? Is it a good deal?" I have considered these questions and now ask myself "Can I afford it?" [:D]

Greetings Scott.....Certainly understand the frustration. I "downgraded" to the Starter Package last night for $39 but found out that not all the feature sets would be available (I have a 5k+ library and would not ordinarily purchase the additional volume for the New Gold Package). I called Sales today and they were very helpful. He told me that an engine only upgrade would be available in a couple of months. I am very impatient and upgraded to the New Gold for around $30 a month for 12 months. Certainly worth it to me. A tremendous amount of work was put into this major upgrade and upgrades from 4 to 5 are due to cost. Probably doesn't help, but in a couple of months, all will be well.

Depending on your library and additional purchases you will find that and addition to your Platinum of Silver or Gold will be considerably less than that.

Two prices have been quoted here so far as I know one $38 and one $187.

You will still have an L4 Platinum library but almost all the new datasets for L5.

Dear Scott,

You might also take into consideration that the printvalue of your Logos 4 Platinum was a bit more than 18.000, the value of the new platinum is 28.000. That might explain the cost of 600 dollars.

Off course this values are what I found on the Logos site and maybe not 100 percent trustworthy, but even if they are just 60 percent trustworthy you have a good deal!

Part of the confusion is the naming convention that was used. I.e. they reused the name. Something for which Bob has already apologized. But it can't really be changed at this point or it would compound the problem many times over I suppose.

On reusing the names, Bob Pritchett has said, "This name re-use has confused some people, for which I'm sorry."
