Topical resources

Now that I have Logos 5, I want to expand my topical guides. I am looking for new topical resources to purchase. Any suggestions?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Open a topic guide from the Guide Icon, enter a topic e.g. "pride", review the results. Then re-ask your question and I'll try to help.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Hi Janice,
If you are thinking about dictionaries, then I can suggest 3 if they are not in your library:
1. IVP Essential Package
2. ISBE
3. Anchor Yale
The IVP is a great value and the dictionaries will work really well with the Topic Guide.

John, Excellent choices!
Janice, do you have specific topics in mind? Also, do you know what textbooks are needed at MBI? Maybe Logos will have these in electronic format.

Hi David,
No specific topic, I just wanted to expand my topical guides.
I don't know anything about the textbooks yet.. Should find out soon and will definitely check on that. Thanks for reminding me, if you didn't..I would have gone out to purchase the actual books! Yikes! How did you know I will be attending MBI?

Don't forget the Old Testament volumes too (Historical Books and Pentateuch),

I have the ISBE already. I will purchase the IVP essential package! Saw all the great reviews!
Thank you so much!

The IVP essential package are one of the best references I have purchased for Logos. In addition, I have found all kinds of interesting topics in journals. If you have L5 Platinum, which I think you said is your base package, you should have the Themelios journals. Other outstanding journal packages are found in this search result: http://www.logos.com/products/search?q=%22theological+journal+library%22

Hi David, theological journal? Is that like a compilation of books? Never heard about these journals. Thank you so much!

Janice,
The theological journals are great resources, but I do not think they will populate in the topical guide if that is what you are wanting resources for.

Oh no, I hope that's not true. I spoke with Logos sales and he said that they will because they go by titles/topics. Are the more like commentaries and a bunch of articles?

Janice, I think it is really a matter of understanding how you view resources populating the topical guide. The journals are of incredible value and related material will be found in them when you run the suggested search in the "Related Topics" section which does an entire library search. I apologize if I caused some confusion. I love the journals and think you will find them valuable.

I'm going to try that search. Thanks John. I am still learning the system and purchasing more quality resources. Appreciate your time very much!
