BUG: Read Aloud does not work on NA28 (NA27 fine)

Version prior to SR3 just released.

Read Aloud reads greek fine from NA27, just as it did for Logos4 (Windows Vista PC).

On NA28 last night, it does not detect its greek so passes the text to Windows to read as if it was English, so of course the result is a total fail.

I'd guess there is a missing flag, tag or metadata thingie in the new NA28 to trigger the Read Aloud to NOT use Text-to-speech, but play the greek audio file. I had purchased the Greek addon way back, and its still active as it works for NA27, hence my guess its the metadata for the new resource. I've not yet tested what it does on the various other greek texts I have.

Maybe this is not the most critical bug in the world: just saying so it goes on the list please.

The Greek Audio NT was recorded from the NA27 text. Since the NA28 has a different text, Read Aloud doesn't play the NA27 audio because it would be different from the text that's on the screen.

At this point, we have no plans to record audio of the NA28.

(We will be fixing Read Aloud so that it doesn't try to do text-to-speech for Greek or Hebrew; instead, the option will be disabled in that panel, instead of failing.)

I did not expect the text would have changed much, so it would seem better to play the audio, knowing it would not always match.

Way back I purchased NA27 for the simple fact that the audio tool would not work with the NA versions I already had, so its not a new issue for me to face. Again, thanks.

EDIT: Actually, the product page says it works with WH 1881 and a TR-style from 2005 and so on. I think I'd like better if it worked with NA28 too, just reading the same audio as it does with the other non-NA27 resources.

I noticed this, and I also noticed that the NA28 changes are primarily (maybe exclusively?) in the Catholic epistles. Thus, it seems that for most of the Greek NT, it would be fine to play the NA27 audio while viewing the NA28. I'll run this past our GNT experts to see what they think.

The Greek NA27 audio is now enabled in the NA28. Let us know if you encounter any problems.

I thought I read that there are only 7 changes in the Greek text between the NA28 and NA27. The other changes are in the Apocrypha. It seems that those few changes are not significant enough to change your Read Aloud text. And certainly will not lead to a new recording of the text.

I think you have to restart Logos 5 to get Read Aloud with NA28, at least I did.

There are between 50-60 changes between NA27 and NA28. They are all in the catholic epistles: James, 1&2 Peter, 1-3 John, and Jude.

Good to know. Probably still not enough to warrant a new recording of those books.
