Customize Your Upgrade

It might be that some have missed the little option to add some value to their upgrade. It's found via the 'Customize' link on the Upgrade page:
When I click on that I get to see the following offers:
Now the good thing for my wallet is that I already have all of these, but these are great prices. I don't know if everyone sees the same offers, but check them out. If you somehow missed these and have already upgraded, I'll bet a call to sales will get them for you.

Mark the Hermenia and Continental set is really at a low price. Too bad my wallet disagrees.

I had Portfolio selected and had the same offers. I thought that button was for payment options so I haven't click it yet. Thanks Mark

Well I have each of those resources already. So I guess it doesn't matter that I missed this option.

Yep, never been lower, but sure has been higher.
All of them are very good prices.
Anchor-Yale is such a good reference work and it is a rock-bottom low price. Surprised to see it that low. The NICNT is also a super deal.

I think the customize option would serve the customer better if you could delete some items that you don't want.

I suppose that might be the first thing someone thinks of on seeing that, and I would like that option. Logos would not.

I do like Logos very much. Not about to bail. But I do get quite annoyed at all the junk you have to buy to get what you want.Makes the boast about getting X number of books pretty silly.

Do you who own Hermeneia find it to be a valuable resource? The customize price looks great but I don't know much about it. Since many of you seem to already own it, what can you say about it?

Lloyd, there are some good volumes in Hermeneia and a few in Continental. The volumes by Attridge on Hebrews and Achtemeier on 1 Peter are ones I've used that are very good. Westermann on Genesis is worth consulting. These are very uneven so the set would not be a top buy for me, but I spent $600 for the two sets about two years ago and have appreciated it some. It would not come before WBC or NICOT/NICNT, Pillar, or BECNT for me, so if you don't have those I'd focus on getting them rather than this.

Aw, I upgraded Thurs over the phone before this, or the website, went up.
I thought I was getting a pretty good deal Mon when I ordered AYBD for $200. [:(] Actually, I still think I got a good deal for $200, and I don't mind supporting Logos.
But those commentaries hurt. Would *love* BECNT and NICNT, but I've already doubled my payment plan over the next 12 mo. upgrading to Diamond and although I hope to pay it down before that 12 mo, I don't really want to extend my plan beyond that right now. Do these go on sale often like this? I hope?

No they don't. Not like this.
I've never seen the Anchor-Yale Dictionary this low (at least since I bought it years ago for a little less (IIRC). I think the entire NICOT/NICNT was on sale this year for about $1,000 (someone can correct this if I'm wrong), so there was a good deal on that. Hermeneia/Continental at their lowest were $600. The IVP bundle is never below $100 through Logos and rarely offered on sale. It's the lowest price on Boice I've seen. Don't know about HALOT/BDAG. Can't remember a sale but there could have been one.

Hey Mark, I did add them to my cart and discounted them! Yes!

I will call in to get a price difference because I purchased the IVP yesterday. Hope they'll do it for me. [:$]

I would say that you get some very good scholars in Hermeneia: Achtemeier, JJ Collins, Klaus Balzer, Walther Zimmerli, Hans Walter Wolff, Ernst Haenschen, James M Robinson on the Gospel of Thomas and Q, Francois Bovon, even Bultmann.

They WILL NOT credit you. This discounted price is showing because you already have the resources. Just like when you upgrade a package, they will discount whatever resources you have.
This was told to me by the rep.

You've been misinformed. He bought AYBD Monday for $200. He has a 30-days money back guarantee. Therefore he can return the AYBD he bought, and repurchase it for the discounted price. But since that would mean a lot of unnecessary work, they simply give a credit for the difference instead.
Just note that those prices are only for people who are upgrading/have just upgraded to L5, not for others. But he said he had, so that's no problem

Thanks fgh,
Can one of the kind folks at Logos process this for me. Change my order so that I'm only paying the discounted price for AYBD and take the difference and keep 100% of that difference as an (admittedly very small) tip for all the great work on L5, as well as the little apps. It's not much of a tip, but maybe you can treat the team to a Hershey's kiss, or a little bouncy ball, or maybe a razor.

I already upgraded to L5 and somehow missed the AYBD on sale for $154. So I tried what others suggested and went to the upgrade page and chose AYBD and the price listed for me was $269.95 I was hoping that may work but I guess not for me.

The great sale prices on the CUSTOMIZE titles/sets is one of the best features for anyone upgrading to L5.
Click on an upgrade base pkg to your cart and then click on CUSTOMIZE button to review all the great prices available on some of the most popular "add-ins" Logos user buy. You only get these prices if you are upgrading to L5.

I found out yesterday that if you have an upgrade in your cart you can add AYBD from the Black Friday page, and you'll still get the $55 lower 'Customize' price.

Wow. That worked. AYBD went from $199 to $154 (the price previously on the upgrade page). Had to go a round about way in order for it to show up. What I did was go into the upgrade page and add an upgrade, go to the black friday page and add AYBD ($199), go back to the upgrade page (AYBD still showing as $199) and add something else (anything), when the recalculation takes place, AYBD will show up as $154. Then just remove the extra items.
I didn't go any further as I already have AYBD.

You can purchase through the website and still obtain the discount. It is a little convoluted, but you should select 'Base Packages', via the drop down menu on the Logos home page. Then select 'Compare' via the main banner on the base packages product page. The Compare page will confirm that you own Portfolio, you should then select Customise from this page.
This will then add Portfolio back into your shopping cart (marked at $0). You will then be able to add products from the customise page at a discount. You need to have Portfolio in your shopping cart in order to obtain the discount.
Obviously, do carefully check that Portfolio is priced at $0 before you confirm your order.

They seem to have fixed this in the last few hours. I tried earlier today and it added Portfolio and wanted to charge me. But now, it was added with $0.

I want to upgrade my L4 and customize my upgrade. When I put books from the customized page in my cart they get the customized prize. However, everytime I try to add Biblical Languages Reference Library $19.95 - they get in my cart at full price (over $349)
Does anybody know if this is a mistake? If it is I will just go ahead and upgrade because I have the time today and then get a refund afterwards.
0 -
Ela - I was able to get the Biblical Languages for the $19.95 price. If you are having issues, call a sales rep - they will be a great help!

Hi ELA;
The upgrades page is kind of tricky at times. What I have done on occasion was to go to another part of the site, then go back to the upgrades page, and the deduction would take place. Try that.
0 -
No, I have tried that. I have also tried different browsers (I have also contacted customerservice last Friday, but the salesperson wasn't able to answer the question)
So it's either a mistake or I cannot - for some reason - benefit from the discount.

I just tried this, and confirmed that it does work on my end. Not sure what the problem is, but it doesn't appear to be a problem with the site (maybe the calculator link to your account). In this case, the best option is to try and get through to customer support.

I will definitely call my sales person tomorrow since BECNT is a great buy. I just upgraded to Platinum, and the upgrade was purchased over the phone, so couldn't see the "customize" option. I wonder for how long those prices would last?

Now I'm wondering if I've become senile. Before writing yesterday's post to you, I checked the Upgrade page, and I thought I didn't see any 'Customize' button. Today it's there. Was I blind, or did they just return it?
The content is totally different now, though. First it was like in Mark's screenshot in the OP, then they added a great number of other language and other scholarly resources, at excellent prices, and now all of that seems gone and the Topical Bundles show up instead.
However, like I said, my 'Saturday' e-mail seems to indicate that the original 'Customize' offers are still valid, at least if you know enough to ask for them.
Btw, it's odd your sales rep didn't voluntarily tell you about the 'Customize' offers. You'd think he'd want to sell...

Well, I got my BECNT 15 vol. set. What a great buy! My sales person had to "get approval" first because she wasn't sure whether she could still give me that deal or not. She said that those prices are only good at the moment you upgrade not for later; either way, she got the approval and now I have the set in my library. I will add the Galatians volume whenever it comes out of pre-pub since it seems it doesn't have a pre-pub discount on it. I might just get it and add it to my payment plan whenever I add the first 2 volumes of the IVP Black Dictionaries on the Old Testament and then the other volumes that are still under development. We'll see; I definitely want to complete this set along with the Pillar's set also.
Now, why didn't the sales person offer the deals to me...hmm...good question, I guess most sales persons get excited that they just made a good sale and they forget to offer you more...or something...hehehe. I can tell you this: I made the mistake of upgrading to silver, then to gold and finally to Platinum and neither sales person (3 different ones altogether) offered me the extra deals. I guess they forget or something. Anyway, I'm doing a study on the book of Acts and I'm sure glad I have Bock's volume on Acts along with Peterson's volume on the PNTC series. They both offer great insight on the text and the background information is superb!
Blessings!
DAL
Ps. If the deals have changed for those who will be upgrading that's a bummer because the "old deals" were great!

LOL I hit proceed and the deals were bad, to say the least. There were a few resources I already owned. Come on, how are you going to offer me the IVP reference library if I already own it OR how are you going to offer me Holman's NT Commentary if it's part of my Platinum package!? Or Charles Simeon's "commentaries" when I already own them?!!! Really...lol
Oh well, I already have what I want for now. I'll add whatever I need to add later when finances allow me to do so.

I upgraded on November 20. 2012, and the price for Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament (3 vols.) was GREAT! But I didn't realize at that point in time that I needed it. It wasn't until in the middle of the winter that I started to think I need a couple of sets of dictionaries, both Bible and Theological. Luckily I managed to negotiate a reduced price with my rep. on the Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament, so I'm happy:
