Several Suggestions

I have a few suggestions.

I love the "float this panel" option ... but would LOVE to be able to "float / dock this TILE" . That would allow you to group the same kinds of resources and see them in one floating window. Pretty handy. This function can be accomplished already in L4, but it could be streamlined a bit with a command on the dropdown. [I keep my Bibles in one floating Tile; commentaries in another, etc. It allows me to see more of each resource at once - because the window is larger. Nice!]

I LOVE Cascadia visualizations - can we have this same approach for the O.T. Hebrew? And the Open-Text : Clause Analysis for the Hebrew O.T. as well.

The ability to mark text in different ways (via visual filters) is a remarkable breakthrough for Bible Study. I have a fairly elaborate system for the Greek morphology that helps me a GREAT deal. It would be great to be able to apply these filters to some other resources like, marking the PC (Primary Clauses) and things like that. I can do this manually by checking the visualization in Open-Text: ...Clause Analysis and switching to a WORD doc and doing manual font changes, but I think LOGOS can do this just a bit faster Thanks for giving me a second of your time.

Great suggestions Ron. The floating windows can hold more than one resources. You just have to drag them and drop them on the floating panel. The layout video at http://www.logos.com/videos demonstrates this well.

I do see in the video on 'Layouts' [and especially the one on 'Managing Layouts'] that you can hold the SHIFT key and drag several resources at once to another tile. BUT: if I have a floating window open, when I click on the TAB in the resource I want to begin dragging ... the floating window does not stay on top of the other open windows, it disappears under the other tiles. Therefore I can't do what you suggest and don't see right now how this is accomplished.

I was able to do this clicking the Restore down button on the main Logos window and arranging the floating window beside it before I attempted to drag one of the tabs.

There's a few things that I have seen on cheaper libraries that, in my not so humble opinion [:P] should have been incorporated with Logos long ago. The most important, being a separation of book type; ie, Bibles, Commentaries, Original Language Tools, etc. With over 500 titles in my "small" library, this should be a given. I can't imagine those having the Portfolio, and having to scroll through a nunillion titles. (One person suggested I type in the title. Ya, over 500 titles, and I know all the titles? I dont think so. lol).
At least one person here suggested certain features of the "Ribbon" be gone. I happen to like the "ribbon", but, I certainly agree, it should be customizable. In his dislikes, he thought the "Show more" feature should "be gone" since his preferred Bible would not be changed. I'm not sure how customizable that can be; but, it does bring up a great point: it should be customizable, and have the ability to be hidden. Same with the "newspaper". I find it rather cluttery, myself, but, others may like it. It should be customizable, so we can see what we want, or, have it hidden.
I'd like to see the initial start-up speeded up. I'm impatient, I know; but, even on a relatively fast desktop, it can be slow.
I like to know what is being updated. This new "auto update" is close to "spyware" (even if it doesnt spy) in that we are unaware of what precisely is being added, and have no option to deny it on our system. One person made a valuable point here, stating they don't have a large hard drive; while another said their internet provider caps the amount of bandwidth they get to use, each day. (While I find this wrong, it happens).

I suggested that you might type in an area of study such as "archaeology" for which I got 10 titles (Yes, that's all). When I type in "commentary" I get a fairly extensive list though I can pare that down with "ICC" or "Anchor Bible" Another alternative with commentaries is to simply type in the book you are studying though some MAY NOT be titled by the book of the bible such as "Pastorals" rather than "1 Timothy" (Books with the title "Pastorals" will come up in the list if you type in "1 Timothy"). When you do that, the list isn't so daunting.

In the lower left corner of your window is the "Customize" button. You might want to investigate the options available there.

You do not have to open to the Home Page. The last option in the Customize list is "Show Home Page at Startup". Uncheck this box, and Logos will always open at the last set up. That should be faster.

Nope; it was someone at Logos Tech Support.
Ive only had Logos since May, and even with just 300 titles under 3, that's a lot to know. Now, supposedly there's over 500 titles in my library (havent seen all the reverse interlinears, tho) and now have less a clue what all I have. lol. I cant imagine some libraries that have several thousand in them, not to mention the added titles too.

All along though - I was grateful to have such a potent helper in my computer - Logos is amazing! There IS a learning curve though with Logos but I suspect it will be far less with L4. Yes, they still have some tweaks to make - and that will make the program that much MORE useful. Learning what is in your library is still an important factor in terms of Logos' usefulness to you. The COLLECTIONS and the PRIORITIES features will also streamline your work, but in the process of set up and use, you will be learning more about what resources you have and how they are best used. There are [unfortunately] no shortcuts for that.

There are some posts on "meta-tags" that may answer some of your questions about resource associations - categories, etc. Hope those discussions can be of help to you.

I may have stumbled upon an easier way to do this. I clicked and dragged a TAB (in LOGOS) onto the [minimized] WINDOWS TAB for the floating window - which immediately opened and I was able to put the resource right in there. Try it and see if it works for you.

I am hanging in there; but, we could use a little help from Logos, I think. Creating categories would be one helpful way to start. But, keeping those customizable is paramount as well. I think I'll like the ratings system; but, how can I accurately rate a title I haven't used? lol
