Bug: Remembering Current Position of the Collection Dropdown List (L5 for Windows)

Hmmm,
For a changed, the bug now appears in L5 for Windows, while it is now fixed (sort of) in L5 for Mac. This is the old thread http://community.logos.com/forums/p/51384/378542.aspx#378542
L5 for Window:
In the dropdown list, sometimes, the current collection (bolded) will appear as the last item in the list (like in L5 for Mac), however, most of the time the list will start from the first item of the dropdown list.
PS: After downloading my upgrade to Portfolio, I am revisiting all my 335 collections. Some of the things I did in the process are:
- reviewing to make sure my collection is still correct and relevant
- changing rules to better reflect my new additions, including dealing with exceptional cases
- renaming collections to better reflect my new additions
Now, having to re-scroll down each time from the top of the list, sort of took away some of the "shine" from Logos 5 for me
However, I must be quick to add that I am still very pleased with Logos 5
L5 for Mac (Request):
Can we have the current collection (bolded) appearing somewhere near the middle of the drop down list like in L4 for Windows? Instead of making it the last item.

During the beta I requested a fix for all menus that scroll to the top and hide the currently selected item. I'll bump that request again!

I am able to reproduce the regression in this behavior in Windows and will report it to Development.
I will also put in a case for Mac to more closely mimic the behavior of Windows in Logos 4.

Tonya,
Looks like these 2 issues have not been fixed since the last post. My current version is Logos Bible Software 5.0b (5.0.2.0562) for both Windows and Mac. Thank you for looking into it.

Tonya,
Looks like these 2 issues have not been fixed since the last post. My current version is Logos Bible Software 5.0b SR-1 (5.0.2.0727) for both Windows and Mac. Thank you for looking into it.

I wouldn't exactly say that.
Yes, if you work in Collections for a while, and open the dropdown multiple times, it does help that the open collection is now selected and shown (though at the bottom instead of at the middle where it should be) -- but most of the time I just open Collections to check out one particular collection and then close the tool again, and then it's actually worse now than it was.
Why? Because earlier the dropdown at least opened to the top, where I have my most used collections, but now it always opens to Unnamed Collection at the very bottom, where I have my most unused collections. Not exactly an improvement...
Of course, the solution to this isn't to go back to how it was, it's to finally fix the old bug that prevents Collections shortcuts from opening to the chosen collection.
Also, Tonya, this bug that puts the selected line at the bottom instead of the middle is also a problem in TOC's. I have a very old bug thread about it somewhere, but I'm not sure I ever managed to get someone to write a case for it. At that time I thought it was a TDNT-specific bug, but nowadays I see it everywhere, when the TOC's long enough. Given that the light grey on light blue is already very hard for me to see, it's very annoying to constantly look up and down, up and down the TOC, looking for the selected item, only to finally find it at the very bottom. Sometimes it's even turned out to be below the bottom.
Which reminds me of another old parity issue: PC TOC's don't show light grey on light blue, but bold on white, which would be tremendously much easier for me to see. Not sure anyone's ever written a case for that either.

LimJK, I'm glad you are so persistent in following up on bugs you've reported. I got too overwhelmed with all of mine and discouraged by how long it took for them to be fixed (sometimes 2 or 3 years and they were still lingering around) that I gave up on tracking them, and have all but given up on reporting them too. I still do report the occasional really bad problem, but minor stuff I've learned to overlook. It's a pity.

Yes, there's been a bug in the Logos forum software that comes and goes. It seems to be not working at present (for the past couple of weeks). If you try to attach a .png file it doesn't work, but try saving it as .jpg instead, as those are working fine.

Hi,
Just following up on some of old bugs I posted here, the same problem still exist in - Logos Bible Software 5.1 SR-2 (5.1.0.0963) as described in the original post last year.
I have a large number of collections, and many of them uses dynamic collections that depended on metadata information, for good reasons some of these information get enhanced, changed unannounced, etc. So, once in a while I will re-visit all my hundreds of collections. Each time the drop down list gets reset to the top, makes it a very frustrating experience maintaining my collections.
Looking forward for this to be fixed soon. Thank you.

When Logos get into a bug fixing mood we may have a chance. In the meantime 5.1b is ready for release after one beta.
