Sermon Starter feature

Okay.  Using the Sermon Starter feature - is there a place to gather all your research?

I mean, obviously, you won't be able to use everything that comes up in Sermon Starter, so when you pick out relevant search results for your message - is there a place to gather them all together and save them that way?

What do you guys do when gathering your relevant results?  Do you put them in clippings?  Do you store them in a separate document?  Do you just "favorite" the results?

I think it would be awesome if Logos had a Research Tool where you could put all of your sermon research and save it in Logos as a Research File for future use.  It would be a place to gather together chosen relevant search results from the Sermon Starter - and elsewhere in Logos - and basically from anywhere (even the internet) - and save it for future use.

I'm not talking about a word processor of any kind - just a dedicated place where you could gather together all of your research for a particular message or lesson and save it - so that you have it all in one place when you start to put it together and use it.

Just a thought.

I agree!  That would be awesome.  I was really excited to see the new Sermon Starter feature. Up 'til now I've pasted material into an external Word file for further development.  I would be great to have the Sermon Starter save selected resourses for a particular sermon as a Logos document type or something like the notes file.  Just a thought.

Joe Miller has done a very helpful video series on sermon preparation - here is the link to day 1a http://www.morethancake.org/archives/740

He uses clippings and favorites in a way that allows a preacher to go back and draw from research at any point in his 5 day preparation cycle.

Stein - Great suggestion! Here is an idea... I wonder what you think about it?

The Sermon Starter Guide can be a saved (named) document. I wonder if it would be possible to add the ability to delete and/or add content to the saved guide? This would allow you to run the guide, delete content that you don't prefer, and add content as you see fit. I think that would be close to what you are asking for, right?

Yes!  That would work wonderfully!  I think THAT is an even better idea than my original idea!

And, like you suggest, it would be made even better If we could both add and delete results (adding from elsewhere in Logos - like the Topics Guide, and Clause Search, etc.) - plus the ability to add text and photos from the web - and save it all as a Logos Sermon Starter file for future use.

    Now, THAT'S a good idea!  [Y]

You could do this with a personal book, even searches. They all have links that can used to run them from any Personal Book.

    But I'm too lazy. [:D]

I <like> the personal book builder, but it isn't "easy." I don't think most users want to use it on a weekly basis.

What do I wish I could do? I wish I could save hyperlinks in the notes section of a Guide Currently if I add a hyperlink it works until I save and reopen the guide. Then the Hyperlink disappears. If this worked correctly you could simply past the hyperlinks to what you want to save for future reference in the notes section of the Guides. As it is you can do this if you past the URL directly into the note. Then when you reopen the file you have to put a space after the URL. This activates the hyperlink. You could also copy and paste the hyperlink into the command bar.

IMHO the improvements they have made to finding saved guides makes fixing the notes section in them more elevated on the need to fix list.

That would be good...I still haven't used the notes sections in the guides much.
