I am very grateful and appreciative of the new full-screen mode in Logos 5 for Mac. However, I have encountered an instance where full-screen support could be improved.
When you are using Logos in full screen mode and you attempt to use Biblical Facts, the Bible Sense Lexicon, or Syntax Search Creation the new floating window does not open as a new full-screen window. This is different than the way other applications run on Mac. Google Chrome, for example, will allow you to "Open Link in New Window" using control+click. If you have Google Chrome open to full-screen mode and select "Open Link in New Window" it opens a new full-screen instance of Google Chrome.
"Why is this needed," you ask. Take the Biblical Facts tool, for instance. If you open Biblical Facts to Jerusalem and select the article on Jerusalem from AYB your Biblical Facts tool disappears into the background. Which, in and of itself, is not terrible or unexpected.
However, say you want to go back and look at Biblical Facts again... what do you do? You have (as far as I know) two choices:
- Open Biblical Facts from the tool menu, or...
- Go back to you desktop, control-click the Logos icon, and reselect the Biblical Facts tool. This would then pull the Biblical Facts window back in front of your full-screen app.
The problem is that most people are going to select option 1
. Now, say you do this five, six, or even ten times? What happens? You end up with several open Biblical Facts windows stacked behind your main window for Logos.
Then, if you quit Logos using command+Q (my usual method of quitting apps) you are in for a real treat
! The next time you open Logos you end up having to wait through a very painful experience of watching 10+ Biblical Facts windows opening.
I admit that I probably need to change the way I use Logos
. However, if Logos chose to implement a behavior similar to Google Chrome (where opening a new hovering window automatically creates a new full-screen instance of Logos) I would greatly rejoice!
