Logos 4 and Logos 5

Is it possible to install Logos 5 and not have it overwrite Logos 4. I want to keep Libronix 3, Logos 4 and Logos 5 on my computer. I get mixed sinals from Logos. One person says it can't be done and sevral others say it can but have offered now help in how to do it.

The only way to do this is to have Logos 4 and Logos 5 installed on different Login accounts. I mean your Computer login, not the Logos Login.

So create an account called MichaelL4 and another called Michael L5 for instance.

Note that you will also have to set the L4 installation NOT to update automatically (See the program settings.)

It can be done on the same PC, but not the same user account on that PC. You'd have to create another user account to keep L4 on. Then you'd have to turn off automatic updates to L4 and install any updates manually or L4 would be overwritten.

The other way — if you're using Windows 7 Professional, or have an old version of Windows lying around, and you know what you're doing — would be to install a virtual machine and run one version of Logos in the virtual machine.

I'm not sure you'd want to do this, since L5 is basically L4 with some added features a faster UI, and a better menu system (IMHO).

It's technically possible, though, if you do the following:

Turn off all updating on Logos4 and never let it update again.
Install Logos5 to a different Windows user account.

OR,

Allow L4 to only run under XP (not really sure how to do this, but I think it's possible), as L5 is incompatible with XP
Install L5 to the regular OS (Vista or later)

Install L4 on a separate computer that runs on XP
Install L5 onto a different computer that runs Vista or later

NOTE: Unlike Libronix and L4, L4 and L5 cannot coexist in the same user account.

ALSO NOTE: If you upgrade to L5, every installation of L4 you have will also upgrade to L4 unless you disable updates, or the other installations are on an XP system.

For all the trouble, I'm quite sure it would not be worth it to you to do this. But it is possible.

Yes, I have done this with Both L3 and L4. I was going to install L2 in another one just for fun, but can't find my old disk.... or a 3.5 floppy slot in my laptop. [;)]

As I understand what these guys are saying, that effectively means that you can't run these two programs (L4 & L5) side by side in the same way someone, like myself, can run L3 along side of L4 (or L5). In other words, L5 OVERWRITES L4 when it is installed, unless you follow the suggestions above.

Frankly, I haven't upgrades to L5 yet, but I won't shed any tears when I do and finally say adios to L4. I've been a blue funk pretty much since the time it came out. I still don't know if L5 has the features I use constantly in L3 but were missing in L4, but I don't see how it can get any worse.

I think I'll try running Logos 4 on Virtual Box. Is there a link that I can install it from while in Virtual Box since the only DVD install disk is the one I got when Logos 4 first came out?
