Uninstall L4?

I upgraded to Logos 5 via the website. Upon completion of order, it directed me to "download Logos 5 for Mac" via link. I did so. Now, I have both logos 4 and 5 on my computer. The email I received later instructed me to close/reopen logos 4 to update. Too late. (Guess I was too excited to get into the new features!)
How do I completely uninstall Logos 4 without affecting any of my Logos 5 installation?
Thanks,
Chad T.

Chad, someone on the Mac side needs to answer. On the PC, Logos 5 is to overwrite L4 so you would never have this scenario. Unfortunately a lot looks the same. Same Logos software logo, the folder Logos is installed to are still labeled Logos 4, but the program is gone. If it is somehow different on the Mac, someone will be along to assist you.

Chad, it sounds like you're installing L5 on a Mac, is that right. If so, understand that I don't know the specifics of how it installs in the Mac environment. My understanding though is that L5 simply installs over L4. So don't uninstall L4!
If a Mac user disagrees with me, follow his/her advice.
If you're running L5 on a Windows machine, definitely do not uninstall Logos4.

Try clicking on the L4 logo?? It may be that the installer just didn't delete the link and it won't work. If it launches L4, then there is more to do.

Hi Chad
Open the applications folder and drag Logos 4 to the Trash Can.
This will remove L4 from Spotlight.
From then on you will only have L5.

I did just that! Thanks. Having over 4000 resources and highly customized and organized into collections, etc., I didn't want to take a chance on messing anything up in the "behind the scenes" files. I appreciate the Logos community responding so quickly!

Hi chad,
To see all the files related only with Logos 4 try using this software: AppCleaner. It is free and I use it to uninstall apps in my mac.
http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
It will list all the files or folders in your mac associated only with logos 4.

I don't know if I would want to try that AppCleaner... The L5 installation goes over the L4 one, including the reuse of the L4 folder. I would personally want someone else to be the Genea pig.

As a technical Mac user I would confirm what Alabama24 says. I would be extremely cautious about using 3rd party Mac utilities which (in automated way) clean out remains of Mac applications. These apps exist because there is an annoying gap in OS X in that 'easy to install', and uninstall, does not mean all files/data related to Mac apps are removed when you drag an application to the trash.
I have not installed L5 yet, waiting for the cross grade [:(] , but from reading other posts I can get idea of what Logos has done.
The point is that for existing Logos 4 installations Logos is installing L5 on top of L4 (resources). Specifically they appear to be reusing the...
/Users/~username~/Library/Application Support/Logos4
folder without renaming that folder to Logos5. Obviously they have reasons for this, most likely to avoid complete reindexing of existing resources. The downside is that existing L4 users will have folders/files with old Logos4 naming on their Macs.
You don't want to touch that folder or run any app which may get confused about Logos4 / Logos5 installations and start deleting Logos system files.
What you can do is remove the Logos 4 application which should be in /Applications IF, as it seems, there is a totally separate Logos 5 application. As Mike said open the Applications folder and drag the Logos 4 application to the Trash. This will delete the whole old Logos 4 application.

We have been advised that new installations on Mac will also use the Logos4 folder name.

Strange. Obviously there is some (obscure) reason for this but it highlights what can happen using version numbers in application folder names.

Updating:)
I used Appcleaner to do exactly What I said. I uninstalled logos 4 only AFTER all the installations procedures of L5 had finished, including indexing. IN MY CASE Appcleaner was smart to know that the folder "Logos 4" could not be removed because it was used by L4 and didn't list this folder as a folder to be deleted.
I just choose Logos 4 as the application I want to delete and Appcleaner did the rest. I had no problem with that. This was my experience.
P.S L5 brought all my configurations of L4 untouched.

Just as information
this is what Appcleaner lists as files and folders IF I would like to delete L5. As you can see it shows Logos 4 folders that it did not delet when I uninstalled L4 using the same Appclener.
