Memory Leak in L5?

Anyone else notice that the program slows down after a long time? I first noticed it last night. I kept L5 open all day and came back after church and started typing some notes and the old slow laggy notes hit me. I was so disappointed. However, after a reboot and restart of L5 it's just as fast as it was. I wish I had opened the Activity Monitor to see how many resources it was using but ...

Could be, very hard to tell. Even if memory increases, it could be that it grabs resources and keeps them open to use again - note that quite a few things in Logos are faster after the first time. A true memory leak is only when the program grabs memory and then loses the ability to free it up, by losing its pointer to it. The rest is just inefficient use of memory.

Also, Windows 7/8 will keep memory in use even when an app frees it, for the same optimization issues. People freaked out when Vista/Win 7 first came out and their system used a lot more memory; it wasn't being used per se, but the OS was keeping it around to hand back to the application much quicker.

If your Logos is getting laggy, you may want to have log on and then post them to see what's up. Also, check the Windows Event Log and see if any unusual or excessive errors/warnings are showing.

I noticed on my Logos 5 (win 7 x64), I fresh restart of Logos is using about 205MB of memory. I checked before I shut it down, it had 455MB of memory being used. It had been up at least since yesterday, and I used it heavily last night. That said, 450MB is not really that much in today's world, on computers with 4GB, 8 GB, and more. You may be seeing something different however.

Gather you are using a Mac. L4 Mac did have some memory problems. Don't know if L5 has corrected them. Have not noticed any slow down, but will try to keep a lookout for that.

I have had L5 open for more than 24 hours on my Win7 machine. No noticeable slow down, BUT I really have not used it much. Hoping to get work done today so I can put it through its paces. I will let you know if I see any weird behavior.

On another note, I am looking forward to your L5 review in Christian Computing. When will that hit?

I think I've noticed this too. I don't often reboot my Mac or restart L5. I've noticed that it tends to take longer to load the various aspects of Logos after Logos has been running for many hours. Particularly the drop down panels for selecting search ranges when running a search of my library.

Just checked activity monitor... after nearly 24 hours of having Logos open here is what it looks like:

Is there anything any of you would like to do (in terms of information gathering) before I shut down and restart Logos?

I envy you. If I start tagging, my L4 can easily reach 1GB within 10-15 minutes. Which means I have to shut everything down and restart the computer.
