Initial impressions of L5 on Mac

I have only been using L5 on my 2012 MBP 13 inch (with SSD) for about a week now. I really like what I see and can say that Logos has done a good job on this release.

As a user who came into the Logos community under the very first release of L4, and one who remembers well trudging up the muddy hill of beta testing for the Mac version, this is a huge improvement. L5 performance-wise seems mostly what I think had been the goal for L4 Mac.

I'd still like to see some other features added down the pipe, and plan to make a list of suggestions soon. Certainly, the new features already implemented are innovative, unique and very good! But I do believe there is room to add to the already-great program.

Other improvements include a major speed boost, a snappier looking and more practical UI. Stability is much better as well. I have, however, had a total of about 7 crashes. 2 during prioritization in my library. 2 while typing and editing notes. 1 while shutting down the application. L5 became unresponsive in the "Sync" mode of documents and settings phase. And another crash happened during an attempt to access data in the "Biblical Facts" window.

Bugs are present, one of which I have already mentioned in another thread on "Biblical Facts."

Nevertheless, for those wondering about the jump from L4 to L5, I would say with confidence that it is worth it. And soon enough the crossgrade options together with the free L5 engine will be made available. No one needs to panic about being left behind, there will be something for everyone.

I concur with your overall experience of Logos 5. [Y]

I, too, find it mainly stable and useful. Like you, I have had a couple of crashes. These occurred when switching to one particular layout. So I deleted that layout and modified a slightly different layout and the crashes have stopped. (I suppose that there must have been something in the original layout which upset Logos 5. [*-)])

    Every blessing
