Same Functionality & Learning Curve?

Hi All,

I'm looking forward to a future upgrade to Logos 5, probably in the next month or so, but first wanted to get a few questions/concerns out of the way.

1. Does Logos 5 have all the functionality that Logos 4 has, plus more? IE: I remember when switching to Logos 4, there was still a waiting period to get some of the functionality that I believe was available in Logos 3, is it safe to say that Logos 5 used Logos 4 as the base, and added additional functionality to it, so nothing will be lost, but lots will be gained?

2. Will there be a learning curve as if we have to learn a whole new system, or will it be similar system and functionality as Logos 4, with increased ability due to the new databases and tools?

Yes.

The latter.

You can check out some of the videos (e.g., What's new in Logos Bible Software 5) to see what the general look and feel of it is. Pretty much like Logos 4 on steroids.

Very similar but the new features require some learning to fully appreciate what they offer eg. Clause Search, Bible Senses. Then there are some hidden gems like a true Root search and "Translated" in the Information tool; which shows how a word is translated in the reverse interlinear bibles like ESV, NASB95

Examples off the top of my head: pericope sets, sentence diagramming. If I just do the starter upgrade, will I keep those features because I had them in L4?

Logos 5 includes Logos 4 features plus new ones. To use the new Logos 5 features needs appropriate data sets. The Starter package includes many media resources plus 4 of the 16 new Logos 5 data sets. Potentially Starter package plus minimal crossgrade for the other 12 new data sets could be quite attractive.

The Logos 5 Documents menu allows documents to be grouped by type; easier to find Sentence Diagrams.
