Logos 5 Crashing approximately 3 minutes after opening

Last Monday Logos 4 began crashing approximately 3 minutes after it was opened. This crash continued very consistently. I upgraded to L5 with the help of a Logos tech. The problem still persists. I can't get any work done due to the crash. 6138.Archive.zip

Since the archive has Logos 4.6a SR-2 running on OS X 10.8.2, Logos may move this thread to Logos 4 Mac forum. Also thread title could be changed since Logos 4.6a SR-2 is crashing, which is not Logos 5.

The Logos4.log file has a number of unusual error messages about CG Context. Wonder if crash is happening in a sermons section for a passage guide.

Possibly could launch Logos 4 Mac to open to a blank layout, then open Passage Guide for a different verse, then collapse sermons.logos.com section.

Likewise thought about restarting Mac.

I opened to a blank layout. I did not attempt to open a new layout. I simply left it blank and the crash still occured.

The crash is caused whilst Logos is indexing using documents, in particular a note.

If your note files are not precious, you could delete the database which holds all the note files, and let Logos sync it back. The file is /Users/timogle/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/bkw91xdl.wpk/Documents/Notes/notes.db

There is a risk that something might go wrong as you do so, so if you can't risk that, you should call Logos support, and get their help on fixing it.

I deleted that folder and restarted.

The program isn't responding but it isn't totally shutting down. I'm now getting the "application not responding" and the program stays "up" (it is still signaled as open by the dock highlight).

I'm going to try and shut it down, restart my Mac and see if there is something that magically happens.

Thanks so much. I've had problems with it all week. A busy week of ministry and it's Saturday...I think you guys understand my frustration!

No improvement. I'm still having the same issue.

I love Logos...when it's working.

I appreciate the company and their software. However, it feels like I'm a some kind of guinea pig that's doubles ad an investor.

Logos 4 Mac had many bugs when I invested in it three of four years ago. It began to run better and more consistently. It's not so much a complaint I have as it is the reasonable expectation that it work consistently.

I appreciate everyone's feedback and recommendations.

Trying to empathize with the developers as they've released another high demand seller this week.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my previous message that the file should have been deleted when Logos was closed. You might want to try that if you deleted it when it was open first time around.

The other thing you can try is deleting your notes files from within Logos, in the three minutes you have before the crash. You should be able to undelete them afterwards by following the link on the documents menu. It's possible you might be able to restore them all afterwards, it's more likely you'll be able to restore all but the one that is causing the crash.

If it's any consolation, the problem (data corruption of some kind) was caused by L4, not L5. L5 is now crashing because it doesn't understand the mangled data that L4 left it.

I deleted all of my notes and clippings. It seems this has slowed down the crash problem.
Logos has been open for approximately 10 minutes now.

I had no idea which note or clipping was causing the crash.

I think it much more likely it was a note, rather than a clipping. You could try undeleting your clippings/notes one at a time. The crash wouldn't occur instantly after restoring, however. It would only occur when the note was reindexed, and unfortunately I'm not sure how to trigger a document reindex other than restarting.

I've got a feeling Sync'ing is the cause of errors people are getting.... (from other posts too)...
