I would like to search "church" from Matt-Rev by clause, what I can see at the drop down is the list  of the churches it is hard work to search in every book, is there a way  of searching without missisng anything by using clause the entire of it?

Blessings in Christ.

It doesn't look like you can do a Clause Search on "church" if that was what you wanted.

You could do it using the Greek word for "church" (ἐκκλησία) using the clause search operators subject-surface and object-surface. It could appear in either subject or object position, and there are different forms of the word. Unfortunately, clause search doesn't currently have Boolean operators, but I believe they are planning to put it into a future version, so for now you'd have to search for each of the possibilities separately and collect all the data results yourself. But it would be nice to be able to do something like (subject-surface:ἐκκλησίας, ἐκκλησία, ἐκκλησίαι) OR (object-surface:ἐκκλησίας, ἐκκλησία, ἐκκλησίαι). Instead you'd have to do six separate searches to tally all the possible results:

    • subject-surface:ἐκκλησίας
    • subject-surface:ἐκκλησία
    • subject-surface:ἐκκλησίαι
    • object-surface:ἐκκλησίας
    • object-surface:ἐκκλησία
    • object-surface:ἐκκλησίαι

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure those six searches will catch all the instances of "church" in the NT. I only get a total of about 22 results by summing them all up, but there are at least 100 occurrences of the word church, depending on which translation you look in.

Thank you Dave and Rosie, I am  happy with this search operator, this is a good start  I hope Logos may show some developments to make it better usable to be able to search specific in verses and chapters as well.

    Blessings in Christ.

  • Using the clause search: how would i find instances of truth and righteousness. Eph. 6:14 for example.

A normal text search would be better. Clause Search is primarily for People, Places or "Things", but you will get a result with verb:to put on and verb:to gird.
