Right now on L3 I have hundreds of PBB's that I use regularly but I own no base package. Am I to understand that unless I buy a base package that I will never be able to use these with L4?
How it works for you in L3 if you don't have any base package? The system was the same with L3. Only base package owners were able to read PBBs. It will be the same with L4 I suppose (should be part of the minimal crossgrade).
I knew after I posted that that some one would wonder how I was viewing PBB's with no base package. I believe it was Clinton Thomas that gave me ( I sent him $20.00) a PBB license CD. A reader that is , not a maker. That was about 3 years ago.
Another question. Will EVERY base package include PBB reader capabilites or just the upper ones?
Logos Bible Software is all abouteasier Bible study. It consists of a free software engine (the LibronixDigital Library System), addin modules that provide specializedfunctionality, and collections of electronic books targeted to yourneeds. The Libronix books on this site were created with thePersonal Book Builder- Standard EditionToread them you need to have a PBB reading Key. Electronic books builtwith the PBB will be readable only by users who have a Libronix PBBReading Key. The reading key is free and is available only to users whoown one of the boxed products (e.g. Scholar's Library: Silver, Scholar's Library, Original Languages Library, Leaders Library, Bible Study Library, Christian Home Library, Or The SpanishLibrary.) This key is included with the Personal Book Builder and hasbeen included in boxed Logos Bible Software collections since the QBrelease. It is not included in free downloadable viewers. Users who owna boxed product predating the QB release can determine theireligibility for the free reading key and download ithere. (ThePrivate Use Edition is licensed for building books that will only workon the system that built them; the Private Use Edition does not buildbooks for distribution but only for personal use.) Shawn,
That sounds illegal to me.
If it was, before God, I was totally ignorant of it.
Shawn, how about at the very least editing out the name of the user?
This exchange took place in full view of all of the General Newsgroupler's. No one made any comments as to anything being illegal so I naturally assumed all was well. Once again, I didn't even have a SUSPICION that this was possibly illegal.
This is totally unknown as of now. The functionality section at http://www.logos.com/upgrade does not show an entry for this functionality. It is entirely possible that you will, and it is entirely possible that you won't. As far as I know, there's no way to be sure as of today.
I too don't understand why the exchange would be illegal, unless the previous owner off the PBB addin installed and continued to use it after selling the CD and license to Shawn.

The PBB in question here is the Reader, not the Editor. The Reader is free with any (?) base package while the Editor requires a yearly subscription. Neither is yet operative in L4. It is one of the Coming Attractions.
Thank you Jack for clarifying the distinction between the two.
I was about to respond that I also bought a reader prior to owning a boxed collection. But after checking my Account Summary first, I see what I bought was the "Personal Book Builder Creation License - Private Use Edition," which included the PBB and the PBB reader. As I recalled, the Private Use edition allowed one to create PPB resources that could only be read by the system that created it - not shared with other Libronix users. It was less expensive than the "full" creation version (created resources that could be shared with others). Since all I wanted was the ability to read PBB books produced by others (and not produce them myself - at least not for sharing), I went with the less expensive version.
So I wonder if if the CD involved in Shawn's transaction was actually the Private Use edition. Because he said he received a CD with a license. Since the PBB Reader is already included in boxed collections, there would be no need for it to have a separate license...
Hi,
I was wondering if you had found out anything new regarding your problem. I am in a similar situation since I also have a bunch of books ( mostly from a two spanish collections from before Logos started offering their own and some books from the old Logos System ).
None of these came with a key to read PBB's.
Now I was wondering if I'd get the key if I bought the Minimal Crossgrade.
Does anyone here know?
Blessings,
Andi

I don't think anyone outside of Logos employees knows, at this point, Karl.
What I can say is that PBB's are supposed to have more functionality and work much more like our other books. This suggests that the standard resource reader (which we all have) will work with them. But it doesn't necessarily mean that.
Unless Logos says something specific here, we can only guess. Who knows, we might even guess correctly (or maybe not).
It *does say* PBB Reader on the minimal crossgrade page. Does that not indicate that it will allow crossgraders to access PBB's? Also, that page no longer states 'you must own package xyz to qualify for the crossgrade..' which I took as meaning anyone could crossgrade, even those without a L3 base product.

Cool. I can't seem to access any info on the minimal crossgrade. Can you point to a web site, or post a screen shot so others can verify this?
TIA

This would seem to confirm that one needs at least a minimal crossgrade to read PBB's in L4.
Good catch.
If you are correct guys, it would be a very important move from Logos. In L3 it has just been Base Package owners who had PBB key. It looks Minimal Crossgrade became somehow unofficially a minimal base package [:)] If it is true, it would be nice move.
Actually, in Logos3 you could buy the PBB Addin and that gave you a reader key - I don't have a base product and got the key that way. *And* I have done the Minimal Crossgrade, despite not having a base product, and got the resources listed on the page - certainly it's the cheapest way to get a reverse interlinear... And this then got me the RI on Logos 3. [:)]
