The Theocratic Kingdom by George Peters

I noticed that The Theocratic Kingdom by George Peters is on Pre-Pub. http://www.logos.com/product/28578/the-theocratic-kingdom-of-our-lord-jesus-the-christ . Since I absolutely love Peters, a couple of questions come to my mind as to why a completely new set is being created.

I already have the this set from the days of third party publishers for Logos products; e.g Pleasant Places, Galaxie. Can anyone suggest what if any differences there may be with this new printing coming directly from Logos, and if it would make sense to get this "newer printing?" Admittedly, the version I have has frequent typos, many of which I've reported over the years. Is there reason to believe that the newer set would be a cleaned up version? I don't imagine a difference in the actual text.

As an aside: I noticed that Logos' describes describes the set as a "defense of dispensationalism." That however is not my take on Peters' work. His last volume of this work was published in the 1880's. Later, Dispensationalists no doubt picked on some of his arguments and used them.

Likewise. I was hoping for $5 a volume. Hopefully it will come down some by the end. No like Peters. Definitely not a dispensationalist since he doesn't have two plans of salvation (the main aspect of the sine qua non)-- I imagine he would have shuttered if he knew his work would become so foundational to dts and other places in the early-mid 1900's.

I think this is a great publication. I sent an email to Logos on Friday asking them if the duplication is an error. I happen to have a hard-copy of the 3 set volume as produced by Kregel (originally by Funk and Wagnalls) as well as part of the Goodly Heritage Library (Shelves 1-3). I took a quick look at different pages in my hard-copy set and compared to my Logos (Goodly Heritage Library) resource and it appears to be identical. I also looked at the sample pages that Logos has listed for the new Community Pricing version (the 7 scanned pages for each of the three volumes) and they all seem to match my hard-copy edition--exactly (same line breaks, same page breaks). Also, the 3 volume set total page count for both the released product, my hard-copy edition, and the new Community Pricing version are identical at 2,175 pages (Vol 1 @ 701, Vol 2 @ 780, Vol 3 @ 694).

Ha! I meant to say "No one like Peters." I have the 3 vol purple hardback too. Phenomenal. I actually had the Goodly Heritage Library edition of Peters on my wishlist. I assume Logos is redoing it to take out the middleman. Glad to see it finding a wider distribution.

Noticed the same thing and asking the same question . . . hope Logos can give some clarity on these two issues . . .

Logos did the same thing, in tying John Gill and hyper-calvinism in the same knot. Not a great way to sell a product.

Not debating the theology one way or the other (this is not the place), but this is certainly not the position of the vast majority of dispensationalist.

That's pretty much my original question. I also have the Goodly Heritage, but it's loaded with scanning errors that have never been corrected (5+ years?). I frequently have to compare the digital version with my hard copy in order to ascertain the correct reading. The paper version I have (Kregal) also has occasional typos, but they're minimal for such a large work. I would gladly pay the 25 bucks or so on Community Pricing if it comes involves better scans. I know Peters isn't going to update the text so that leaves only cleaned up copy as a benefit to a new Logos printing. If there's something else involved I'd like to be enlightened.

If you already own the older version of The Theocratic Kingdom, then you will receive this updated collection for free and the files will automatically download when it is complete. The previous edition was created many years ago, using the best digital files available at the time. We’re rebuilding The Theocratic Kingdom from the ground up—this collection will contain new, updated files.
