I've just got L4 installed and opened up. It took almost 24 hours to download. Whew! My first impression is not so great. I like the way it looks but it just seems to lack a lot of functionality compared to L3. Also, it's very sluggish. Granted, it's still indexing but L3 and other programs are running fine. My laptop has enough power to run even while L4 indexes without any problems to other programs. I sure hope it smooths out after the indexing is over.
L4 will not let me use the scroll pad on my laptop's touchpad. That was a big disappointment. I was also disappointed with the opentext clause viewer and the way it works with LN. With L3, I could hover the mouse over a Greek word and get LN definitions. I could click that Greek word and open LN to the page to read more about it. With L4, I have to right click on the greek word and actually open it? Seems like a step backwards to me.
I really wish the notes function would let me copy and paste graphics. Until this happens, notes are useless to me. I want to be able to paste a verse of scripture, paste an opentext graph, paste a graphic, paste a lexical entry and keep that all together. That's a big part of my workflow when I'm studying. It would be nice to do this within L4, so I could keep my notes synced to my Bible (like my own commentary +). I'll have to keep using Microsoft's OneNote for this.
On the positive side, I do really like the homepage. I also like the infographics. I like the way everything looks. But that's just not enough for the price paid for the upgrade. Faster searches will be nice. But again, that's not enough. Maybe my opinion will change after about a week or so. We'll see.
