The forums by their nature tend to be negative. People usually post because they have a problem, suggestion, or complaint, and sometimes the manner in which they are offered could use a little more grace or charity. So I'd like to take advantage of the season and offer something positive.
I just did a L5 Minimal Crossgrade from L4 Platinum with a number of additional resources. I chose this path because I already owned most of the books I wanted but I wanted the new databases. After working with L5 for a couple days and watching the video on new features, as a programmer in a former life I have some small sense of the magnitude of what Logos undertook and delivered. As a long-time student of the Bible and the Biblical text I am amazed at the power and depth of the program. The minimal crossgrade and the added resources that came with it are a bargain in my humble opinion. I hope that Logos recoups its investment and takes in much more. It is clear that besides taking care of its staff, Logos is continuing to invest in developing tools for the Christian community--just take a look at Biblia.com and Faithlife.com. When we buy a Logos product we are all in a small way contributing to the growth of the Kingdom.
Is L5 perfect? No, as in any project this size there will be bugs that have to be worked out. I suggest that if we viewed ourselves as partners with Logos in Kingdom work rather than just as customers things would be much more pleasant all around.
So thanks, Logos. Thanks for what has been a premier product for a long time and that has only gotten better with age. May God bless you in all your endeavors and may you keep your eye on the things that truly matter.
And thanks to all those who Liked the Anchor Bible Dictionary and helped put it on the Black Friday sale!
Blessings,
