Logos5 fails when attempting to Update

When I click to open Logos5 I am presented with a box saying an Update is ready to be installed. So I click to do the Update and after going through some of its preparation I finally get this box
I cannot figure out what the program wants. I have checked the file logos.exe.mui and even gave "everyone" access to it, but nothing seems to work. I can Cancel and Logos5 goes ahead and loads just fine. The only thing is that I now notice I have lost about 100 books from my library. Could there be a connection?
Not sure why the program wants a Logos4 Folder, anyone have any ideas. Thanks for any help in resolving this.
Oh, also, from inside Logos5 when I check for Updates I get the response that there are no updates available.
My version is Logos Bible Software 5.0 SR-4 (5.0.0.1835)

First, for all users of Logos4 that upgraded to Logos5 the Logos4 directory name will retain that name, even though Logos4 is installed. There are reasons this was necessary, but I won't take time to explain it now.
As to the file permissions question. This comes up occasionally. There is more than one solution, because there is more than one cause. If you have not yet restarted your computer, do that and see if that resolves the issue. If not, with Logos not running, navigate to that location in Windows Explorer (you may have to unhide hidden directories to do it - else copy/paste the full path into the Explorer location bar), and rename, move or delete the logos.exe.mui file, and restart Logos. Logos should download a new copy of the update file. This may be enough to resolve the issue. If not report back.

James,
It looks like a directory or folder permissions issue. You may need to contact Logos technical support, or, if you are up to the challenge, try to assign you, your Windows login credential, as the owner of the permission to that directory. What Windows OS you are using?
David
Edit: try Richard's suggestions first, and let us know the result.
Sometimes a registry corruption can cause this; other times it could be left over components that were not removed during uninstall, bad sectors on the hard drive, a virus, etc. If you have to uninstall and re-install Logos, make sure first to back up the folders Data, Documents, and Users in your Logos4 (or Logos5) directory. Then, after re-install of L5, you can use Method #2 or Method #3 of Quick Installation onto multiple computers in the Wiki.

Followed your suggestions (1) Restarted my computer, didn't help; (2) Deleted the file, didn't help.
I need to update my Info that post's to the bottom of my messages. I am now running under Windows 8, would that make a difference?

Some earlier pre-release or Beta versions of Windows 8 are causing problems.

Thanks David, but it's strange that everything has been working fine until now. AND, Logos5 runs AOK after loading. Windows 8 was installed after Logos5, but that was the first thing I checked after installing Win8. No problem.
The only thing that seems to be a problem is when I first click on the icon to load I get this message about an update. If I select to update I then get the error message. If I say "no" to the update Logos goes ahead and loads. I did grant access to the Logos4 folder, but that didn't help. Guess I'll just wait until Monday and call Tech.
I am concerned about the almost 100 books that have disappeared. Since I don't have a list of them anywhere I'll not know which ones until I try to find one of them.

Thanks Steve, but wouldn't I expect that to be the problem real soon after installing Win8?
Sure appreciate each of you who have helped. Will get to the bottom of this, I know. If push comes to shove I'll do the re-install, but not today, still have work that needs to be done for tomorrow.

Not the permanent solution but this happens to me (even prior to Win 8)... actually from the start of L4.
The way I get around it is to run as administrator (right click the Logos app icon and click on Run as Administrator). Should work.

Try to fix Ownership --> http://wiki.logos.com/Fixing_Logos_4_folder_Ownership
"run as administrator" usually works but you have to do it with every software update!

No. If you keep getting an Update notification then enable logging and upload logos.log and logosIndexer.log

Thanks Dave and David Salazar,
Sorry I'm just now getting back to give a report. I did the right click on the icon and ran as Administrator and that seemed to fix the problem. It went ahead and updated and everything seems to be working just fine.
That is, EXCEPT, I still don't know what the 100 Books are that are missing from my Library count. Haven't had the time to call Logos to find out what may have happened. I have no way of knowing what books may be gone until I might want one of them and it's not there.
Thanks again to everyone. Dave, I'll keep that Wiki site bookmarked for future use if needed.
