Yes, spammers will often post a reply to an old/existing thread. It's nothing new. That one post can be reported as spam without the entire thread having to be deleted.
They even have a way of injecting spam into an old seemingly innocuous post by adding a signature line (with links in it) to an existing account.
Oh if only the spammers would tire of it and stop this nonsense. It is such a nuisance and costs the entire world so much money and time and aggravation fighting it.

I haven't seen this before, other than on email where they hijack an account.
So much knowledge and skills used for the wrong purpose.
