Is there a way to save a new layout so Logos starts with the layout I want? Currently, I have to launch logos, enter a search or passage, then load the saved layout I want after the default layout has loaded.
thanks,

Peace to you, Jarod! *smile* I'm not quite understanding you! I think that just maybe if you turn off "Show Homepage at StartUp," (lower left corner of your homepage) then your Logos will open with the last used Layout. That's the way I do it ... so simple.
Please give us any details that you have to help us understand your need better!
Again, Peace and Joy to you, Jarod!
I have Homepage NOT starting when I "fire up" my Logos.....
This, then, is what I get (It's a saved layout ... It could be any of my saved layouts , but this is the one I'm currently studying.
Okay thanks, but if I want to do a search i have to go back to the homepage to use the search panel. So, I guess my question now is: How can I do the same search without going back to the homepage? If I do Bible search, it just opens the results in one panel.
Also, the default layout is to open the passage guide and the exegetical guide on the left, and the bible on the top right with a commentary on the bottom. Are you saying there's no way to have the commentary open on the left side when I do a search? And, are you saying that I can't change whether I want the (for example) exegetical guide to open or not?
It seems odd that you can't customize the panels you want on launching the application.
Thanks for your input, the initial launch is pretty slow on my Mac so I'm trying to figure out a streamlined way to open what I actually use without opening a bunch of panels that take time to load when I don't even need them.
Jarod,
What you are calling a search from the home page is not a search at all. It is loading a preset series of tools and executing them on the scripture passage or topic you typed in. Actual Logos searches are performed from the search tool (the magnifying glass icon). (If you type a topic into the Go bar on the Home Page that will only open up a search panel doing a Basic Search.)
We have no control over the preset layout from the Home Page. We can control our own personally created layouts and even the Passage Guide contents, etc. One thing you can do is save the default layout that opens from the Home Page. Give it a name under the Layouts menu and it will be there to reopen each time you want it. You will have to type the new scripture passage in each time you change it, so for that layout it may be faster just to return to the Home Page.
You might want to check out Mark Barnes video tutorial on layouts, what they are and how to set them up. The tutorial is based on Logos 4 but the technique is the same for Logos 5.

Thanks,
So, I was talking about the "Go" panel on the home page. That's definitely the easiest way to open up a bunch of linked panels. It would be great to be able to customize the results of the this panel.
Thanks for your input.

Jarod, do check out the video link I gave you. Many of us make extensive use of customized layouts and once you understand them, you may rarely use the Go bar again.

You can customize this layout and use it provided you:-
Thereafter Logos will load that layout and you can input passages to one of the linked panels.
Mark's videos are great. I have also found this user created video to be of tremendous help in setting up a custom layout. I just do a search and drag the search over to add a tab to my left pane (of 3).

I agree Mark has some amazing videos for good L4 and L5 training!
There is a uservoice suggestion to add this function to L4/L5: http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-5/suggestions/639625-provide-option-to-have-logos-open-to-a-disignated-
This has been requested since the beginning of L4, so please add votes to the uservoice item.
If you work from a layout it is saved as "Application Closed" when you exit. Logos will keep up to 10 of these named layouts but it will always restart with the latest "Application Closed". The issue now is that no layout is automatically saved/reused when Logos is started from the Home page, which means learning to study without loading the Home page if you want to use a customized version of its study layout(s) --> see my previous post for details.
As with L3 workspaces you can load a different layout when needed (provided you first saved the layout). Similar to one of L3's options the layout is automatically saved when you exit and will be reloaded when you next start Logos. However, it will be reloaded from a different computer if you want to continue the study elsewhere!
Unlike L3 you can't specify a layout to be loaded when you start Logos, but you can always start to a blank layout and then select it. So if you want to go back to the pristine study layout that you originally saved (or a different layout) you can do so.

For me, I seldom want to start my study where I left off when I closed L4. I tend to start a new study.
I also do not use the homepage because it is soooooooooo slow to load, and it mainly has nothing that I want to look at (Book of the day, an image, or some scripture reading that is not related to what I want to read/study, and the countless number of ads {yes, I have everything turned off, and it still doesn't turn off everything}).
