New books unlockable in Libronix

I recently upgraded to L5.
Today I bought some older books - they are also available in Libronix format - so I wanted them in this format as well, as I use libronix on another computer (I do have the latest edition of Libronix 3.0g and also the latest update-scripts)
I used the usual "download to previous-versions" button on the order-page and got the script. The books downloaded as usual, but when I opened Libronix they remained locked. I tried the script again. But now the scripts asks me if I want to download the LOCKED books. So they are locked.
In Libronix I tried synchronizing the licenses, but the books remain locked. To make a check on this I bought another book on my wishlist which I knew was an older book, so that it could be used in Libronix. I got the script - and now the same thing happened. Even though there initially was an unlock file - next time I open the script it asks me if I want to download a LOCKED file. And again - synching with the server does not solve the problem.
The books have all downloaded to L5 and they are also on my ipad, so they have been added to my license.
This has not occurred to me before buying older books - but it is the first time that I'm buying books after upgrading to L5. Is there a change in the license-file system?
Has anybody else experienced this - or any suggestion?

Bob did announce the new resources wouldn't support Libronix. An initial announcement was made in January, but there was a fuss and it was postponed for a few months.

ELA .... that little problem began showing up a couple months back. I don't know the reason for it, but I suspect it's because Logos lost the ability to un-license a resource with a refund on Libronix. So their solution (uncommunicated as usual) was to force the user to re-build the license file.
The solution is to go to C:\ProgramData\Libronix DLS\Library. Inside Library RENAME (so you don't loose them) the two sub-directories 'Cache' and 'Licenses' (I date them in the name). Go to your Help in Libronix and write down your user confirmation code ('About Libronix').
Then re-start Libronix. If it doesn't ask for your confirmation code, go to Account Management and it will. Then it'll want to re-download the licenses. After a clean restart, backup your new license file for use on your other computer.
You don't need to rename the above directories back to their original if all goes well (I keep them but it's not necessary since Libronix re-built the new ones). But if it doesn't work and you want your BOOKS back (!), just rename them back and restart Libronix. But this works for me; I've bought many Libronix books in the last 2 months or so.
Now, if they've made ANOTHER unannounced change with L5, then the above may be incorrect. I've bought what I thought had L3 versions in the last few weeks, only to discover they were published in 2012 (and thus no L3 version as Mark mentions above). So each time I've called up for a refund.

Thanks Denise. I'd misread the original question. Hopefully your solution will work.

DMB - thanks for your answer. I tried your solution - and it worked. The books are in my Libronix-library by now.
However - I'm kind of bewildered. I really hope this is a coincedence and not a new policy. I have 6800 books in my library, and it took the computer almost an hour to rebuild the cache and licenses.
I cannot believe that Logos - unannounced - intend to let me go through this every time I buy a new book. (Actually I bought some books 14 days ago, and they went into my library beautifully). But that was before I had upgraded to L5.
On the order page there are still download buttons for 'previous versions' (of course only if these books are available in Libronix) Then they would have to remove this button.
But I do feel uncomfortable that the download script asks me if I want to download the LOCKED books.
Last year - in January as Mark Barnes mentions - it was clearly stated by Bob Prittched that older books would still be available for Libronix-users. I cannot recall that there has been any statement or announcement that they would change that in the near future.
If that is the case I really hope that LOGOS will bring an official statement.

It is true we have been told older books can be used, but not that all or any books will be supported in the old format. I have one volume in old Logos 2 format and several in libronix format that I am guessing due to Logos no longer having licenses for them will never be updated to Logos4 format. They are still usable on my computer (unfortunately not my iPad or iPhone)… I have no clue as to if the older books were planned on being left up on the ftp server or not, but one would assume if you had a DVD you would be able to unlock items from it???

PS:I understand a resistance to upgrade, personally even with it lack of features I loved the Libronix Mac program, it was super fast compared to 4 or 5, but in this trow away society we live in hardly surprising we are herded into purchasing new better items…. heck had Libronix and PowerPC support still been around i would have happily stayed on my old PowerBook G4.

No, I changed it back. The renewal of the licenses and cache obviously also changed my preferences and the changes to the program I had made.
Favorite bible now is a Latin version etc.
This cannot be the solution.

It looks like this is some kind of bug. I can't imagine it's intended behaviour. I've seen no mention of it on the forums, so it looks like it's something that happens only very rarely. Hopefully, it won't happen to you again.

Wow, ELA ... you're probably correct (L5). Good thing I'd pretty much run out of books to buy at Logos (L3 version). Head on over to A-company's new windows verson coming up this spring.
Appreciate the reporting back.

Dan, please notice, that I have already upgraded to L5 (And I have had L4 on my computer since it was out). I also
understand that new books are not availalable for Libronix and I am
aware of the FTP-server. The books can certainly be found here. The books that I have bought are on the FTP-server and it's a collection that was out about 5 years ago. So they are certainly available for Libronix. They are in my Libronix library in the right format - BUT THEY'RE LOCKED.So it's not a question whether I need to upgrade or not.
What troubles me is that the usual unlock-script for older versions now suggests to 'download the LOCKED' books instead of 'unlock and download' the books. This is new. It could be a new (un-announced???) policy or it could be an error that has occurred with the upgrade to L5.
But the renewal of licenses and cache is definitely
not a solution. It also overrules all my personal changes to the program
(favorite bible was now Latin etc.) So I just changed it back again.0 -

Yes, it must a bug (but it happened also when I bought another book as a tester) I'll contact technical support.
I appreciate you all trying to help me. Thanks a lot.

ELA ... I assume you know all your personal 'stuff' for Libronix can also be 'protected' while you're updating your licenses. In W7 they're at c:\users\your-W7-account\my documents\libronix dls.
If you use Libronix regularly, this folder ought to be backed up anyway along with your license file and your library resources.
Didn't know if you knew that or not. It can be quite large but important.
Anyway I'm guessing Logos won't fix it, so next best 'thing' is to just copy your 'stuff' back, after you get your license file. (Just a suggestion).

No problem, Dan!
The new books are now unlocked again. I don't know how this happened. But a lot of other books in my library has now been locked (books that I've bought) - and even though I still have the updates for them, they remain locked. I think something went wrong when I upgraded to L5. Maybe there was an error in the way they were added to my account. It was done manually by a sales person - and not via the website.
I'm waiting for customerservice to report back to me.

Good luck, I am sure it will get all worked out but I know it's still frustrating.

I thought I'd try to "unlock" a previous purchase from my Order page. The Libronix Update page asked me to confirm the download (book + licence file) and then requested I close Libronix before it would proceed. When I opened Libronix the book was LOCKED. Synchronise Licences also did not work. Then i remembered:-
- when you close Libronix, Libsys.exe usually does not close (in Windows 7) and it is important when making changes to your Library
I killed Libsys.exe, started Libronix and this time Synchronise Licences WORKED.
Lesson #1: Kill Libsys.exe after you exit Libronix (or before starting)
You must do this if you Refresh Resources in Libronix or manually delete the resource cache at C:\ProgramData\Libronix DLS\Library\Cache. Resource discovery will begin after you start Libronix, but your resource Preferences will be reset UNTIL you:-
Lesson #2: restart Libronix (after resource Discovery)
and
Lesson #3: don't forget Lesson #1

When all books are Unlocked you should be able to Synchronise Licences to be sure that Libronix is up to date and you don't have to delete the resources cache or licence file. Just make sure that you kill Libsys.exe before you sync licences or before you restart Libronix for a Libronix Update.

Glad this approach worked with you. I tried various including your steps without getting an unlock (library sees book but locked). My steps above were only from another user and so far has been my only solution. But in any event I got my last refund today and will block the card.

This is several months later, but this is what I found on how to get Libronix books. If you own Logos 4/5, before you download a new (older Libronix) book, sync the libronix licenses. The license file on the server will show you have bought this book (under Logos 4/5). Then download the libronix version from your Order Account on the website. They will be unlocked. This works for me every time.
It appears that with the update that includes syncing the license, it appears to download, but it is still the old license that remains on the computer. I tested this by doing a backup license before and after. The files were the same size, no change.

Peace, Paul! I'm an old retired Pastor who's used Logos since the Spring of 1993! I didn't bother keeping my L3.0g right up to date since quite busy with L4 and L5. However, I tried your advice today; ........... and !!!! It works for me! Thank you!
I'm probably going to let L3 "go" one of these days anyway; however, it was nice this evening "shining" it up a bit and "basking" in all the old pleasures, eh??? Again! Thank you! Maybe next weekend I'll try to "play again"! Who knows???
