Super slow installation on VMWare virtual Windows XP

I want to have a copy of Logos 5 and Logos 4 on the same computer, for instruction and support of students on our seminary campus. Since the 2 program versions cannot coexist, I set up Logos 4 in a virtual machine running Windows XP and Logos 5 on the main Windows 7 computer.
I am using VMWare on a Quad
code i7 Windows computer. I have 8 GB on the computer with 2 GB allocated to the virtual machine running Windows XP. The virtual machine is normally quite snappy for running various programs. When I run a speed test on the Internet, it can download 20Mb/s on my cable Internet.
But installing Logos 4 on the virtual machine has been a nightmare. It has taken 48 hours to download the
9GB resources. I have had to shut it down and restart it several times, because it seems to get stuck at certain points and will not continue downloading. Is there any reason why it should be so slow to download the resources? Does this bode badly for how it will perform when I use the program on the virtual machine?

I haven't run Logos 4 with VMWare, but I've installed it using "Windows XP Mode" (i.e., Virtual PC) on Windows 7, and didn't see any download problems. Downloading speed is mostly determined by network bandwidth, although there is some CPU usage when decompressing downloaded files.
Sorry that I don't have an answer; I just wanted to make it known that there aren't currently any "known issues" with running Logos 4 in a virtualised environment.

It bodes badly for the VM and/or Logos' servers! I have run Logos 4 in Oracle's VirtualBox running Windows 8 on a Windows 7 host without noticeable degradation compared to running directly on the host. VirtualBox accesses the local drives very efficiently and I have installed L4 by scanning resources on the host drive.

It took 4 days to finally get the installation finished. Whew!
Once the downloading was complete, the indexing went very quickly on the virtual machine.
The downloading would work (slowly) for a short period, then periodically I would see that the data transfer on the network paused for a few minutes.
While this very slow downloading was occurring, I was able to do other things with the virtual machine very quickly. Even while the slow data transfer was going on, I measured 20Mbs data transfer rate on the virtual machine with http://www.speedtest.net/.

Personally have two user accounts in Windows 7: one has Logos 4.6a installed while the other has Logos 5.0a.

It may have been better to use ThinApp and virtualize the application so that nothing is installed to the registry, that way you could have 2 versions on the same system without a problem. I haven't done this myself but that could be a direction to go into.
