Ipad mini, can't change version

I just got a new ipad mini. I changed the version in settings to New King James. It won't change on the reading pace. It is still on New English Version. 

Any ideas?

    I changed the version in settings to New King James.

    So I think you mean that you changed the "Preferred Bible" to be New King James - is that right?

    It won't change on the reading pace. It is still on New English Version. 

    Can you open your library and open the New King James version from there?

    The reading pane won't change simply because you have selected a new Preferred Bible. It does affect which Bible is used when looking at references etc.
