Logos indexer keeps stopping

You've copied your LogosError log. I would like you to attach (hit the paperclip and navigate to the files) the files to the post. The link I gave you with instructions should have instructions for zipping the log files as well, so that all you need to do is zip the files and then attach one file.

Been enjoying reading your blog and some of the others you reference. Nice to see you here, though I'm sorry this happened to you.

Please be sure to attach your log as Tommy suggested, rather than pasting the contents here. That lets them redirect the log to the right tech for advice.

These indexer logs are difficult to decipher and I'm sure Tommy will do better than I at diagnosing the problem. There seem to be multiple issues here, and errors are not uncommon in indexing files.One possibility for the crash is a bad file (possibly a reverse interlinear, given the info above).

One thing to try is the update resources command, in case there's an update that your system missed. Note that this can take a while to execute as it checks all your licenses and every resource version against the Logos servers. Download any new resources (it will probably start that by default) and let it index. It may or may not work.

If you get a suggestion from a Logos employee, try that first, as the tech's know more specifically what might be going on and will likely do better than my shotgun in the dark approach here.

Thanks Rich, good advice. Trying "update resources" crashed the program so I rebooted my pc, restarted Logos with control, updated resources, and now the indexer seems to actually be working, well, maybe. I'll keep trying. Thanks for your help. pvk

I'm sorry it is still crashing. The last indexer.log file you sent doesn't record a crash. At this point can you either try one more, and if that still doesn't have a crash that I can diagnose, give us a call, or just give us a call? That's a "file in use" error, maybe an interaction between Logos 5 & Indexer, but could be a Security program doing a scan. If so, just block it from scanning the C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local\Logos4 folder. Restart L5 and see what happens (if necessary, repeat it and then close L5 immediately after the Indexer starts).

That was last night... the 3 times indexer quit this morning did not log any error. It just quit.

Logos support discovered that instead of downloading SR2, it had downloaded an earlier beta version (punishment for having left the beta channel set to beta?). He downloaded & the current version, let it download another 40Mb of resource updates (though the library shows NO new resources since last night--even after closing/restarting Logos to install them.

L5 has now started a 1st time index (= rebuild index now). We're at 20%. <sigh>

SO far, not a happy upgrade experience, though I'm hopeful it'll be fun to play with if it ever finishes getting installed & indexed.
