Bible word study on iPad
Is it normal that bible word study search shows only one result? When I search for the word "grace" for example, I receive only one result from the concise Oxford English Dictionary. Your help will be deeply appreciated.

Hello, and thank you for responding so quickly. Yes, I am connected to the Internet, and I own the most recent portfolio package.

Hi Daniel
This sounds as though you are trying to do the BWS against a Bible without Reverse Interlinear capability
What version are you using for this?
Does it work if you try the NRSV or ESV?

Daniel - also, could you specify if it is OT or NT?
That's a good question[Y]

Sorry for the confusion. The RI is fine, I can see all the results under Hebrew & Greek words. What I am missing is the definition of the word. When I do a BWS search on my PC It open over 40 references; while on my IPad is only opening the reference I mentioned above.

That is exactly the problem I am having. I would like to link up the enhanced strongs lexicon or something similar, but I just don't know what will work there. Is there a particular subset of books that will work? If I purchase the Vines, would I be able to link that into the BWS in the definition drop-down?

Hi Kimble - and welcome to the forums
Is there a particular subset of books that will work? If I purchase the Vines, would I be able to link that into the BWS in the definition drop-down?
Ideally, you should be able to do this but there are limitations in the app at the moment which prevent us having this level of control.
The BWS window will display up to three lexicons and the order of these should, in theory, match the prioritization of your lexicons in Logos 4 or Logos 5 libraries.
However, this information is not currently being synchronised to the iPad app so we have no control over which are actually used.
So whether Vine's would be displayed is uncertain.
When I do a BWS on a Hebrew word I currently get results from BDB. CHALOT and DBL Hebrew even with Vine's prioritised higher than some of those (I have just changed the prioritisation to test this so potentially the information hasn't synced through yet but I don't believe that is the case).
Hope this helps

Hi Kimble,
If you purchase either a base package, or minimum crossgrade, the Bible Word Study feature will work properly. I saw that you have a license for Abridged BDB which on the desktop app has an entry from that Hebrew word but I'm having difficulties pulling that up on the mobile version. I'll be looking into that.

It works well when I use it through clicking a word in the ESV. Is it the ONLY way to use BWS on iPad?
No. You can also enter an original language word. In your previous screenshot you had entered "grace," which is an English word... The results you got are what is to be expected... An English dictionary giving a definition. If you want to enter the Greek or Hebrew directly, you can do that as well.
Does that answer your question? Am I understanding you right?

To add just a little: in your first screenshot, you entered "grace." The results come back in the wheel with
χάρις in the NT section. You can press and hold that word, copy it, and paste it into the search field. You will then end up with an original language search.

Thank you, Alabama. This answered my question.

I've been watching this thread as I have a similar problem. My results are missing any entries in the definition section. I get the doughnut charts and verses, but I can't get any dictionary results on the top bar. Thoughts?

Hi Steve - and welcome to the forums
Can you provide a few more details:
- What word in which verse in which translation are you basing the search on?
- What lexicons do you have?
- Have you purchased a Logos base package?

Hi Graham,
I think the most significant answer is the package - I have a very old scholar's edition. Is it that my resources are so old that they don't have the newer advanced capabilities? I have even less functionality on my Mac.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve
What version of Scholars do you have?
Are you running Libronix, Logos 4 or Logos 5?
