How long does it take to approve an order?

I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it takes for an order to be approved. I made a rather sizeable (at least for me) purchase today of some books, many of which are downloadable.

I received an email (immediately after completing the "transaction") over an hour ago stating that my order had been placed, but was waiting on approval. I'm still waiting for the order to go through. This strikes me as strange as a month or so ago I made another purchase (a small purchase) and it was approved almost immediately.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how long an order should take to be approved?

I've never had an order wait for approval...perhaps their credit card link is down or something is wrong with your card.

EDIT: I take it back...once when the date on my CC info on file was past, I had a pre-pub waiting for me to update my info.

Shouldn't be a credit card problem on my end, as I pointed out I used it about a month ago for a smaller purchase.

the only times something like this has happened to me was when my credit card had expired.

Just got off the phone. Apparently, because I made a purchase through the "Academic Sales" department, the sale has to be approved by hand. The salesperson mentioned it can take up to three hours for them to get around to approving it (yikes!).

Yeah, I learned about academic sales today. I never realized that there was a discount for Seminary students before, which is really neat for those of us who haven't graduated yet.

I wish this was better advertised (or maybe I just haven't noticed all of the advertisements).

It has to be approved because the Academic Rep at your school needs to verify that you are student. Otherwise anyone could call in claiming they attend a seminary and get a discount.
