Hi everyone, I was just curious if I can move my Collections from Windows Logos to the Mac Logos? I have a lot of them already and it would be a shame to lose them all in the transition! Thanks!
I gather you are speaking of Logos 3 for Windows and Logos 1.2.2 for Mac. Short answer. Yes, you can do this. Collections are the only User Files that are compatible in this way. Do you need instructions?
Yes, you are correct, and yes, if you don't mind.
And are you sure Collections are the only type of file that can be moved? Thanks so much!
nd are you sure Collections are the only type of file that can be moved? Thanks so much!
We are speaking Windows version 3 and Mac version 1, aren't we? L4 changed everything in this regard. As I recall, Collections was the only thing that had a common format.
I placed my Libronix User Files in a folder located on the Mac and directed the Windows version to that folder. My only reason for doing this was to make those files visible to Time Machine so they would be backed up on a regular time schedule. I was never sure that it was a good practice, but it worked, so I left it there. When I started to answer your question, I just noticed that the upgrade to Logos 4 has cleared that folder. I believe L4 moved them to a new location. Now, I know that was not a good practice [8-|]
Since upgrading to L4, I have used neither Windows 4 or Mac 1. I can always restore the missing files from Time Machine, but I doubt it will be worth the effort for me.
I'm sorry, perhaps I'm confused, but I'm still not certain how to move my Windows Logos 3 Collections to my new Mac Logos. Would you mind walking me through it step by step? Thanks!
Step 1: Install L4 on your Mac
Step 2: Follow the on-screen instructions and enter your Logos ID and pw.
Step 3: Let Logos download all your resources and index them for searching.
That is all you need to do.
The OP is not asking how to transfer his resources, but how to transfer his collections (and then between L3 and L1 Mac).
Oh, sorry I misunderstood the question.
You cannot transfer collections from L3 to L4. L4 uses a different and improved version that help to create collections more dynamically so that when you add books, they automatically get added to the proper collections.
That being said, L4mac is in Alpha and we do not have that feature available to us yet. If, however, you are using L4win, you can set collections there and they will sync into the L4mac version.
As Joe has stated in a recent post, you cannot move collections from either previous version of Logos to Logos 4 on either Mac or Windows. Are you wanting to copy collections from Logos 3 on Windows to Logos 1.2 on the Mac? If so, you need to copy the content of the Collections folder (or the whole folder and contents) from the Source Folder to the Destination Folder in the list below:
Source Folder: My Documents/Libronix DLS/Collections (I believe that is the correct folder. I have moved my Librinix User Files to the Mac and access them through a shared folder—Not I procedure I would recommend to anyone else)
Destination Folder User/Library/Application Support/Libronix DLS/Collections

Can I use the resources I bought for Logos 4 Mac in the 1.2.2 version?
Some of them. Some others are L4 specific. YOu might contact CS to see which is which.
From the FAQ at: http://www.logos.com/4/faq
: Can I buy a Logos 4 base package or base package upgrade and use my new books on Logos 3 or Logos for Mac 1?A: Yes. The majority of the books in Logos 4 will run onLogos 3 for Windows or Logos for Mac 1. However, since Logos 4 booksare in a different file format, you will need to purchase a separatemedia-only disk to get the books in the proper file format (i.e.,.lbxlls). A dual-layer DVD is available for Windows users, and a two single-layer DVD set is available for Mac users.
