Skipping book covers when backing up

Is there a  way to avoid backing up logos book covers when I do a back up in Android. I've got 5000+ covers and every time I try to back up my Galaxy it hangs half way through the photo backup.

At present I have to copy the logos covers folder to my pc, then delete it from the phone, then backup my photos, then restore the covers folder. The whole process takes about three hours.

I'm using Kies for backup on an Galaxy SII
