Where are you trying to delete search words from? Can you give more detail about what you're trying to do?
Do you mean the X in this screenshot?
If so, I've noticed an un-normal behavior over the last 3 updates where clicking the X to delete the search does not remove it as expected. However, when closing and re-opening the search history the search will now be deleted. Is this what you are experiencing?

I have experienced this. The last update (from today) still has the problem. Clicking that X doesn't delete the search. After restarting, though, I do not see it removed. At least for the few times I tried it.
I can duplicate this with SR 4 and L5 Mac.
Are you trying to delete an older search, or the one that is currently open?
When I do it, I am trying to delete an older search (though "old" is relative as it could be weeks old or a day old). But not one that is open currently.
The drop down for previous searches, if you try and delete an older search by clicking the X nothing happens,
I can reproduce the behavior now. I'll write up a post. Thanks for reporting it!
