library.logos.com: My Suggestions

After using library.logos.com off and on since its original announcement, I am liking the speed at which new resources are added, and I really appreciate that Logos is offering this. I have a few usability suggestions based on my experience:

1. Open books to table of contents instead of title page. (thank you for adding "contents" button)
2. Don't have John 3:16 in the search field; we just have to erase it.
3. Each time we have to go to a new page, it takes quite a bit of time on a phone (at least my TMobile blackberry curve) so have the homepage be an immediate jumping off point for the various searches/features
4. Display short titles in the library (currently all the John Owen titles look the same as they are too long and are clipped before the Volume number appears)
5. Sync reading plans (otherwise to get to the part of a book I'm reading in library.logos.com is a nightmare...click...click...click.)
6. Perhaps introduce a web-based (or Logos4-based) option for homepage customization.
7. "Send to mobile..." right click option within Logos to put link somewhere in library.logos.com site to open up to a particular spot in a particular resource.
8. More button on the passage guide under commentaries to show more.
9. Sync collections to make search delimiting useful. Tons of results are difficult to sort through in Logos and impossible on the phone.

Basically my main problem is navigating within a resource.

Basically, navigating within a book is currently very primitive and time consuming.

Agreed! I know it's there as a demonstration of what we should do. but having an extra line of text "type reference and click go" would suffice.

Right now I'd add:

10. Increase the number of books on each page, and enable me to scroll through the titles faster by selecting a letter to jump to. I've never gotten past the titles that start with E because I have to start at the first page and scroll down, click next, scroll down, click next, scroll down, click next..... Just so I can see what's available. I dread when we get more than a few hundred books in there!

These are really good suggestions. Several of them are quick fixes that we should be able to get out soon. Others will have to be added to the queue

Collections should already be working. Are you not seeing your collections listed, or are you getting incorrect results when you try to use them?

By the way, a bug to report is that (at least on Opera for Blackberry) on clearing cookies and loggin in, it makes me log in twice (the first login page upon logging in takes me to another login page, which after logging in on this second page, I am logged in.)

If you do a search, you should be able to select a collection with basic selected

Either that or hide the resources that we choose to hide in Logos. I might make it to E if I didn't have to page through all of the Cairo Geniza Targumic Fragments!

The resource list now respects your Logos 4 hidden resources settings. If you have javascript enabled you will also be able to load subsequent pages of resources into the current page without a full page load, which should be a lot faster. Let me know what you think -- I'll probably do the same for search results.

11. have the "Show More Books" link at both the top and the bottom of each page. Still "click...click...click" - but it eliminate the scrolling necessary to get to the bottom of the list.

Can we get collection reports added to passage guides (looking for where a verse we run is referenced within a collection)? Or even allow us to create a passage guide template in Logos called "Mobile passage guide" or something like that. That way we could eliminate the sections we don't want and keep sections we do want

The resource list is not respecting my Logos 4 hidden resources settings. I hit the Targums and they're still there.

I recommend on this page a drop down menu to allow us to jump to the alphabetic character we want. Also, a sort by author and sorta by rating feature would be helpful
