Verbum very slow and won't respond

Hello all,

Trying to do a little research today for my homily tomorrow and brought up Verbum and typed in Luke 3: 10-18. When I hit enter, everything started coming up as usual, but then I couldn't move anything with the mouse for 10 minutes or so. When I could move things, it was very slow to react. when I would scroll, it would only move one line and then stop.

I tried this about 3 times today, turning off the computer in between so it would have a fresh boot. Checked task manager in Windows 7 and nothing else was really running in the background. I have 8gb of ram and a quad core processor, so memory and speed shouldn't be a problem, since it was working before this.

Any helpful ideas out there?

Meanwhile, back to my New Jerome Biblical Commentary and Barclay!

Did you check to see if it was indexing? Sometimes one needs to pause indexing to get decent response.

Besides what's been suggested already:

If you notice that there is a column where the width of the resource icons keeps shifting back and forth, remove or move (to another pane) one of those book icons.

EDIT: You can also try to close the Information panel (if it's open), or set it to Update information on Click.

Thanks Richard! That worked. I had been noticing 'The Lexham Bible' would shift back and forth dropping 'The' and bringing it back again. Closed Lexham and it's all working. I wonder if I can bring it back later?

But thanks again! Seems the Holy Spirit is shifting me to Paul's Letter to the Philippians instead for my homily. Maybe it was good to go back to paper for a while.....

No MJ, it wasn't indexing, I know that slows it down too, but that wasn't the case. Thanks though!

Yes you can. Maybe. It's more likely that you can bring it back in a different pane, or if you remove a tab from the pane it was in.

This is a transient error that has been difficult to reproduce. It may even depend on the order the resources are loaded onto the pane. There was another report of this, besides mine in the initial pre-release testing period. I've not seen it since, and I only remember one or two other instances of this.

But if it happens again, you know what to do.
