Can someone explain why most of the highlighting notes have ellipsis, and therefore are virtually useless?
Is there something that can be done?
The line that you are referring to is the note TITLE line. In L4/L5, Logos creates a title by abbreviating longer passages using an ellipsis. When an ellipsis isn't used, it is likely because 1) the passage is short enough or 2) you were using one of the mobile apps (which as yet cannot create the abbreviated title). By the way, you can change the title to anything you would like. It is for identification purposes only.
No… not really. Some users have moved towards using the mobile app for the purpose of highlighting. I can't stress enough that this is unwise. The unabbreviated titles are considered a "bug" by Logos and an update to the software could (I'm not saying it will) erase that data.
Now to the greater picture… there are many users who want the ability to see their highlighted passages in FULL. I fully agree with this wish/desire, but I disagree with many who want to see this happen in the title field. I would like to see a "passage quote" field added, with a "passage" view which would hide all notes & titles and just reveal the passage in its entirety. This would be the best of both worlds. The present highlight/note system has some advantages which would be eliminated if the title line became the quote by default.
