PowerPoint to Proclaim

I've created slideshows in PowerPoint that have different animations in them (words flying in, things moving around, etc). I've imported the slides into Proclaim, trying both options - converting to images (which I didn't think would work) and giving control to PowerPoint (or whatever that wording is). None of the animations work. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just not possible to have the slides work the same way in Proclaim that they do in PowerPoint?

I'd appreciate any advice you can give!

Hello Maureen,

The "transfer control to Powerpoint" option on Windows should preserve your animations; the "convert to images" option will not, as you correctly assumed. I am following up with you via email.

I too am having this problem. I have a video with several text objects on a single slide, which appears to work ok preserving all animations, but I have another set of 3 slides, one of which has a larger video and several text objects which does NOT work........none of the text objects appear. Both slides are basically the same otherwise.

Very confused ...........and I do this quite often so unless I can sort it I am sure it will stop me using Proclaim longer term despite many positives. Great shame!

Is there a size limit on slide contents with regard to preserving animations?

Any advice please.

Are you on Mac and if so which version? Also what format are the PowerPoint files in, are they .ppt or .pptx?

Hi Travis

I'm using Windows Vista .........and the Powerpoint files are .pptx. (Haven't tried my Window 8 desktop or .ppt imports yet), as the church laptop runs Vista

I also note on other PowerPoint simple slide imports that the slide transition times are all set to 3s when imported into Proclaim, and cannot be changed.

I have been patiently waiting on pulling the trigger on Proclaim because the powerpoint integration wasnt there.

I too, like many others have a Pastor who creates powerpoint presentations with transitions and "slow reveals" of text within one slide, or what not.

So I was excited to see the "Transfer Control to Powerpoint" option that is being discussed here. I just tried it and see that it works, but I notice that in order to do it the file must exist on the presentation machine and does not get synced for the entire group to see.

Are there plans to do this? This is definitely the deal breaker for us in going to Proclaim, We need the full functionality that Transfer to Powerpoint gives, but also want the PPX to be added to the presentation so all the staff collaborating on the Proclaim Presentation can see it.

We do not currently have plans to sync the PowerPoint document.

Alright - Thanks for the quick response! We'll stay with OpenLP then.

Ill keep a check now and then to see if this ever happens and we'll consider Proclaim again.
