Notes/Highlights: Why the difference in what's displayed for location?

I haven't used Notes documents on my iPad (2 64gb wifi) much before, though I have used highlighting within a resource on it with some frequency.

I have a highlight on some text in BECNT Ephesians. In the notes file ("document") on L5 desktop, the location of the highlight has the text "Ephesians 1:11-12". However, in that same notes on my iPad, the location is listed as "Page 71".

Is there an explanation for this?

On a slightly related note, it would be *awesome* for highlights if the resource name was automatically used as a default "Note Title" when the highlight is added to the applicable notes file.

Thanks,

Donnie

    Bump.

Can someone from Logos explain what's going on with this? It seems like there ought to be consistency.

    Thanks,

    Donnie

Can you give some screen shots?

I can't right now - I'd need to get home to do it. And I always have to re-figure out how to do screenshots on my iPad. However, it really is as simple as opening the same notes document - one having a highlight - in L5 and in Bible (at least iOS) and seeing that the location's textual verbiage is different between the two.

Is it the SAME highlight, or different highlights made on both platforms?

FYI- to take a screen shot, press and hold both buttons. The pic will be in the iOS "photos" app. You'll need to email it to yourself since mobile safari doesn't work well in the forums for uploading pics.

    Hi Donnie

It doesn't seem consistent across all resources.

The shots below are from notes I took on the EEC James commentary - the first shows what I see in L5, the second shows what I see on the iPad

As you can see (on L5) some show as "EEC Jas" and others give the reference. (The same is actually true on the iPad but you can't see it in the window captured in the screenshot)

The next pair relate to another notesfile - again shown on L5 and the iPad - in this case, you do see the difference you are describing.

The third set is from a PNTC commentary notesfile which I have just created for this purpose - here you see verses are shown in both cases but a different range!

So there are certainly differences but I can't determine the underlying causes for the variants I am seeing.

It doesn't seem to relate to whether the note was created on the iPad or in L5 (although this is possible).

    Same highlight.

Thanks for the reminder on taking a screen shot. Turns out that works on my new Galaxy S3, too.

Here's the screen shot from the iPad:

Here's the screen shot from L5:

Note the clear difference, the first having "Page ##" and the second having a reference. The source for all 3 of these highlights is the BECNT on Ephesians (Thielman). All 3 were made on the iPad. The "title" is empty in the first one in L5 because I was playing around with the highlight in L5 and didn't re-add the default title. I'm not sure why all 3 titles are empty on the iPad. That seems like it might actually be a bug.

Clearly each highlight's resource reference is a logical one since the two apps render the location differently.

At least as significant as the highlight details being displayed differently is the fact that on neither device are you given any information as to what resource the highlight is in. That's why I suggested in my initial post of this thread that Logos enhance either the logical location display or the default title for a highlight to include the resource name, even if it's in its short form (BECNT Ephesians).
