Note file hyperlinks do not work?

Is there a way to click on a hyperlink in a note file and jump to the verse or resource?  The hyperlink was created on the desktop.

Not currently when viewing the note within the notesfile document 

You can use hyperlinks when looking at a note attached to a resource.

That's what I suspected, but was hoping for more funtionality.
