Bible Word Study - Part II

One of my favorite Logos screens is the Bible Word Study circle where I can write any word from the scriptures and it shows me how frequently that word is translated from various Hebrew words (or Greek ones). Now that I know how to search for any word from my iPhone resources, such as from the Authorized Version, for instance, I have another question. Is there a way I can type a word on the iPhone so it takes me to the Bible Word Study (as it works on the PC) or do I first have to find the word in one of my Bible versions first. Right now, I have to open the KJV, for instance, and look for the word I want and then press on it, and then this takes me to the Bible Word Study. Is there a shorter way to do this or is there a way I can just type the word right on the iPhone app version of Bible Word Study?

Best,

Gregorio

    Hi Gregorio

You should just be able to type the word directly into the BWS guide.

(I don't have an iPhone but this works on my iPad)

You need to get to the BWS guide - I think on the iPhone you need to get to the Menu and then cycle through the options until you get to the one with Guides. From there select BWS.

Once in the guide you should be able to type the word into the text entry box at the top

    Hope this helps

Gregorio – were you planning to type an English word, or an original language word?

English, thanks. I use my multiple lexicons for the other searches, although mostly in my PC.

Would you mind sending me a screen shot of what you mean? I have not been able to figure this out. Also, what is the BWS guide? Thanks for your patience, Graham.

    what is the BWS guide?

The BWS is an abbreviation for "Bible Word Study." Graham was talking about the "Bible Word Study Guide," which you will find in your sidebar menu. Make sure the "magnifying glass" icon is selected. You will have to flip through the panels to find the guide one.

You can type in an english word and it will show you which original language words were translated to that particular english word. If the field to enter the word is missing, press the top of the screen and the menu should appear.

I don't have access to do this right now… if you still have troubles, let us know and hopefully we will be able to grab those.

Sorry for the confusion - the screenshot below shows how to access the Bible Word Study guide from the iPad menus - I assume it will be something similar on the iPhone

In the guide I entered the word "church" in the top-right box which resulted in the information below - I have pressed on the largest segment to expand the results

Graham and Alabama, thanks so much. I touched the top of the screen, where it says Bible Word Study, and then it worked, and opened up the place where I could type my word in English, in my case, I typed JUSTICE. It worked! Many thanks to both of you. Now I need to find the easiest and best way to look up words in Hebrew and have my three favorite lexicons come up: Gesenius, BDB and HALOT. Best, Gregorio

Gregorio– I'm not sure what the status of prioritization syncing is. Ultimately, Logos should recognize your preferences from L4/L5. One tip: If you do an English word study, you can copy and past the original language words back into the search field.
