I have installed version 5 for Mac. Opened the App but when it comes to updating the updates it gets stuck on 1% of 5.73 GB

One idea is enable diagnostic logging; wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging#Logos_5_for_OS_X then restart Logos.
The indexer.log shows each file being downloaded so can watch progress.
By the way, to change from 1 % download of 5.73 GB to 2 % needs 114.6 MB of data downloaded. Amount of time depends on internet connection. Apple's Activity Monitor (in the Utilities folder within Applications) can show network transfer speed.
From watching network speed (green line), noticed a personal download average of 69 KB per second so 5.73 GB would take (5.73 GB * 1024 MB/GB * 1024 KB/MB) / (69 KB/second) = 87,077 seconds, which is a tad longer than 24 hours. One day has 86,400 seconds. Changing from 1 % to 2 % download progress takes 28 minutes on an iMac with DSL internet connection. Different providers have different network transfer speeds, which affects time needed.
