Does anyone have an update as to when we will be able to transfer notes and highlights from L3 to L4?
Thanks,
Tom
I just got back from Camp Logos in Mufreesboro and the word was that notes conversion (Lord willing) will be 1st quarter 2010. Let's continue to pray for Bob and the whole staff as they work long hours bringing a quality product to market.
BTW - I am keeping my notes in ver 3 until a conversion is tried and tested.

Jeff,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate the up-date on notes transferring. I am also doing as you are by keeping my notes in L3 until the conversion is completed and working. This is such an important need, I am surprised that I don't read more comments on this from Logos users. There must be thousands of people with years worth of notes that are unable to make the break from L3 to L4 since their notes don't move over. To me, they should have had this function working before even introducing L4 because it is so essential to us. I suppose no one knows at this point what form the notes transferring will occur. I mean, will the notes just suddenly appear in our L4 library, or will we have to go through some steps to move them over? If you or anyone knows anything on this I'd be anxious to hear.
Tom,
I think that they wanted to proceed with getting Logos 4 to market with all of its new features, Support Version 3 users, Add missing features from 3 as they move forward. Logos understands how important our notes are and they are very Kingdom minded - not wanting to hinder God's people but instead empower them. They have issued tenitive timelines for adding missing features here http://www.logos.com/4/missingfeatures and note conversion is on the top of the list. I asked about this and they said that they are testing a conversion method (probably a utility) that will import all of our notes from 3 and put them into 4. Until the meantime I am running 3 and 4 side by side and it is working great. I think we need to be praying for the programmers at Logos and the whole company during this time because this is more than just another piece of software this is a spiritual battle as well.
Love in ChristJeff
Thank you again for your response to my questions. You seem to be very knowledgeable with Logos and you are exactly right, Logos is a tool that Satan would love to destroy. Logos has given me the ability as a teacher to be much more accurate with my teaching and has opened the doors to vastly more information to be shared with others. As teachers, we are held to a higher judgment, and I appreciate the fact that Logos has enabled me to meet a higher standard of teaching God's Word.
By the way, do you have any information regarding hyperlinking? In L3 I could hyperlink a particular page of a Logos book to an "outside" document (i.e. a Word document maintained in a file on my computer); and I could also hyperlink a word or phrase within one of my Logos notes to say, another book in Logos or an "outside" document. With L4 I have learned to hyperlink from an "outside" document to a particular book/page within Logos - however, I cannot seem to select a word/phrase WITHIN a Logos note and hyperlink it to either another book/page inside of my Logos library or to a document "outside" of my Logos library. Is that feature just not available yet, or have I just not learned how to do it?
I appreciate your time to respond to me and I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge.
In Christ,
(Numbers 6:24)
I just upgraded to L4 and while it was worthwhile in terms of saving money by getting it on their holiday discount program, I am surprised to find notes conversion missing. I use notes so much to collect my research that I can't really work effectively without it. Thanks for posting your comments. You've saved me time finding this out. I'll just have to wait patiently.
Jim,
You are absolutely right. Most of us have put so much time into our notes over the past few years that we are extremely dependent upon them. This is such a critical issue with Logos 4 and I still remain stunned that this most important feature was not taken care of BEFORE putting L4 on the market. Frankly, I just don't use L4 right now because of this problem. Hopefully, the more people that address this issue the greater the impact it will have in moving this necessary feature to the top of the list of things for the Logos programmers to do.
Merry Christmas,
