Passage Guide optimizing

I notice while I was doing study through the passage guide, some commentaries did not link...

What I mean to say is, the commentaries that had an introduction before going verse by verse did not link up with the verse...

Example: John 1:4

Clicking on my commentary (Pillar) it started in the introduction... I had to scroll down to my passage to find what I was looking for...

It is not only that commentary, but it seems like all the ones with the introductions before the passages have that problem...

So instead of going to John 1:4 as I had typed into the passage guide it went to the introduction.

I was hoping for more exact search results, rather then spending extra time scrolling...

Just a thought...

I believe that what's happening is that it's going to the first relevant place right?

My baker exegetical that is marked "I. Prologue: The Word Made Flesh (1:1–18)"

starts that way...

I'm guessing that's the reason...because John 1:4 is included in that section.

My Baker NT commentary that doesn't have that; goes right to the verse.

This system seems fine to me...personally, I'd like to come in on the beginning of the conversation as it pertains to my verse [:D]

I wish there was a way I can choose one or the other.. I agree with you, I do like it to start in the prologue. Once I have read it an moved on to my passages, I dont want to go back over it. For example I am not typing in 1-18 in the passage guide, wanting to read the whole section. I am typing in a certain passage in the passage guide..

Basically in my passage guide I am typing passage by passage. John 1:1 then I read all my commentaries etc. Then I type in John 1:2... When going through my commentaries you can see how much extra time it takes to start right back at the beginning (prologue) and scrolling to my passage.. Especially at the amount of commentaries I am looking through...

It would seem to be more efficient if the commentaries actually linked to the passage I typed in the guide. Right now it is set up to get me in the general vicinity.

There is another thing that does not seem right. I tried to bypass the problem by typing my passage in the top left hand section of my commentary. The results did not bring me to the passage but the prologue...

Take baker exegetical... If you type in John 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 it will go to the prologue... But if you type in John 1:6 it goes to the passage same thing with 1:7 etc.

I am not to sure why it does that but if there was some option that would bypass the introduction it would be really helpful to me in my study and make me more efficient

I agree with Blair. If there's a section 1:1-18, and within that there's a 1:4-5 I'd much rather go to the 1:4-5 if I'm doing a PG on 1:4.
