Background shading picked up as highlighting in Clippings

I don't know if this is a bug or my own lack of skills, so I'll post without the BUG in the title for now.

I highlighted a sentence in one of my resources that happens to have a grey background shading.

When I right-click and put the selection into a clippings file, it picks up the background as though it were highlighting.

I would prefer to have only the text in the clippings file, but can't figure out how to make that happen.

What am I missing???

Ha! I'm not sure we meant to do that. I'll see if there is a case about it and if not make one. Thanks for pointing it out. This shouldn't happen for you if you change the normal resource background to Gray, it seems to only happen in these isolated chunks that have a darker background.

Thanks, Tommy. This is certainly not a deal-breaker, just a preference. Fix the bad stuff first. This can wait.

The behavior is by design because the clipping feature is meant to extract all information--including formatting--and that darker grey color is considered formatting.

That's actually a bit bizarre.

It is the words, not the font, or the background, that is of interest. But now that I mention it, the font was changed (see screenshot above)...so how does that fit with all the formatting? Plus, the original formatting was a grey background, not grey highlighting.

This answer just doesn't make any sense. Are you sure the programmers weren't pulling your leg? This sounds like one of Microsoft's answers...(it's not a bug, it's a feature!).

I guess the next thing is a request...to be able to set clippings to clip text, not formatting.

Thanks for pointing that out. Since that behavior is in contradiction to what I was told the designed behavior is, I've written up a case for that.

As for the behavior en general not being what you expected. I would go to the Suggest section of the forums, and/or head over to Customer Feedback for Logos Bible Software and enter that in as a suggestion.
