Copying and Pasting Problem

When I copy Bible Text and paste it into my Evernote document, I get additional text. An example is below:

Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000105 EndHTML:0000004810 StartFragment:0000000772 EndFragment:0000004776

How do I eliminate this from being copied into my document.

Are their settings in Logos that control how scripture is copied into your document?

I have just tried this and can't reproduce what you are seeing.

Can you give some more details?

What version of Logos software
Are you running on Windows or Mac?
Any particular passage or translation or does this occur with all?

Are their settings in Logos that control how scripture is copied into your document?

Yes in some scenarios - see http://wiki.logos.com/Copy_Bible_Verses - but I wouldn't see this affecting what you are describing.

Hey Graham,

Thanks for the quick response.

I use Logos 5 for Mac.

It happens with any passage and I use primarily the ESV. I did check and it is happening in a couple of other translations.

I do use evernote now as my primary word processor and didn't know if that had something to do with it. It could be an evernote problem but it did not happen in previous versions of Logos.

Hello Russ,

Can you describe the process you're using? Are you highlighting text in your Bible and then right-clicking? Command+C? Copy Bible Verse tool (what style?)

I apologize that this must sound silly, but if you can describe your exact process, step-by-step, this will help us reproduce the issue. There are multiple actions one can use to perform this task, and we need to narrow down the exact process that's giving you trouble.

I am a Mac user, who HAS an evernote account, which I DONT use… With that preface, I just tried this and came up with the same results of the mystery text. I will experiment a bit more this afternoon.

Can you describe the process you're using?

Right click on a word in the ESV.
Make sure "reference" tab is selected.
Click the copy [insert reference here]
Open Evernote
Create new note
Paste.

EDIT: I just tried "paste as plain text" and it left out the gibberish.

EDIT 2: I also tried selecting the text and using "command - c"… the gibberish was not inserted.

My process has been mostly to use the Copy Bible verse tool. I have tried multiple styles and used Microsoft Word and Text Edit. I have also tried to highlight and then right click to copy.

I just tried the "past as plain text" option in Evernote and it eliminated the "gibberish'. That may be my answer to the problem.

I see. It sounds like Evernote isn't translating the citation info correctly. I'll let Development know, but this may be something more related to Evernote than Logos.

This will be fixed in 5.1 Beta 1 for beta testers, and in general when 5.1 ships to the stable channel.
