Updates never update

When I open Logos 4, I regularly get a notice that an update is available. I recently downloaded the update which took quite a bit of time and slowed down my computer for several hours. The next day, when I booted up the computer and opened Logos again, I got the same notice prompting me to download the update. What gives?

I am not sure what to tell you. Do you update regularly, or do you cancel the updates? The "update is available" message can be for either 1) software updates or 2) resource updates. These can happen frequently. Is there a reason you think it is prompting you to download the same update over and over rather than new resource or software updates?

Here is my normal procedure:

Since I am in the forums often, I am generally not surprised by a software update.
I "purchase" Vyrso resources often (especially "free" ones), which cause my system to update VERY regularly.
I generally check the blue Logos icon to see how large it is. The software updates will typically be the same size, getting slightly larger as time goes on (I think they are around 120 MB currently on Mac)
Once the update is finished and the app is restarted, I visit the homepage to see what is new.

If you are seeing the same size download and nothing new is showing up on the homepage, you might have an issue.

If that is the case, that there are frequent updates that consume a great deal of my time to download and that never stop coming, one upon another, then I can only conclude they are nuisances that I must ignore, that is, if I am to get any work done. My purpose in owning Logos is not to admire it and shine it constantly, but use it! I frankly have not noticed that the updates have given me anything I needed to have. Is there no way to make this update system more efficient and transparent?

Is there a reason why the updates are distracting to you? They should not prevent you from working… am I missing something? I allow Logos to download all the time and I can work as needed.

I don't know what your updates were for. They may have been software updates (which provide new features and fix bugs), or resource updates (which add functionality, fix typos, etc). Both are "needed."

Using Tools -> Program Settings you can specify whether downloads take place automatically at any time, automatically within certain times or when you explicitly allow it.

I generally keep my Logos internet access turned off for weeks at a time. But when I turn it on (usually having bought a book) there's always 2 downloads. One is the 'regular' bug-clearance update, and the other any books I've bought or updated resources.
