Considering upgrading from platinum to Diamond. Wondering if anyone could give any feedback towards wether it was worth the investment. The differences, etc
Why not look and compare yourself? Go here and click on "compare." Then scroll down and look for what Diamond has that Platinum doesn't, while checking the little 'person' icon on the left that tells you if you already have it (in whole/part) already. If you want enough of what you don't have, and the price seems worth it to you, go for it. If not, be content with what you have, or purchase what you want separately (if that's more economical).
I compared these two yesterday (I have Platinum), and decided I was content with what I have. (YMMV)
Mark,
Like Richard, I am a pastor. and like Richard, that upgrade isn't appealing. For me it would cost $939. As I look through what I'd get that I'd really want and use, I conclude it isn't worth that much to me. If I were to spend that sort of money in Logos this year, it would be spent differently.
You need to know your needs and how you'd use the material. It isn't that there is no good material there. For me there is just not $939 of it.

Based on content, for me I would just go up to Silver (maybe Gold) and build from there. As it has been stated before, no package matches or has come close to match the first Platinum LE released by Logos in 2009. That was the best package, now I would just upgrade to Silver and buy BECNT and PNTC and then whatever else I need and would use. Quite honestly, Logos 5 has cool features, but the quality was downgraded when it comes to content. Not what it used to be...hey, even L3 had better content than L5...but then again, that's just my opinion.
Blessings!

Thanks for the response guys! Good advice, will probably stick with the platinum package and just build on that.
I'm late offering my 2 cents (lots of snow to move this morning), but I did purchase the Diamond package and am glad that I did. I had been wanting the JPS Tanakh Commentary Series and the JBL (Journal of Biblical Literature) for a while. These two resources alone are nearly $700. I will admit that I already owned a lot of resources in the package and that my upgrade cost was not as high as yours. Can't remember who suggested it, but I would compare the package with what you have and determine what your needs are. I am a pastor as well and there are a number of resources in this package that you may find helpful.
I'm also considering an upgrade from Platinum to Diamond. Here's my approach (which is probably similar to what others are doing).
I've been actively keeping my wish list updated. I went through my wish list and found everything included in Diamond. For me, it was just short of $600 in resources. I probably won't be able to purchase these at a discount, but even everything goes on sale, these resources will still probably cost me $400-$500 at best.
My cost to upgrade to Diamond was quoted as $800. I went through the comparison chart's "New to Me" column in Diamond and examined everything that wasn't already in my wish list. Then I asked myself, "will these other resources be valuable to me?" Plenty of them are $150--$700 by themselves, but are not worth anything to me if I don't use them. Besides my wish list items, are there $200--$400 of _useful_ resources in the rest of the upgrade, for me? (Still considering this question.)
One more point for I have to consider, though: there are _lots_ of things in Portfolio that would be valuable to me, but the cost of moving from Platinum->Portfolio is still prohibitive to me. If I get Diamond, perhaps Logos will offer another or their rare "upgrade" sales (at 15%--20% off) in the future, then I could step up from Diamond to Portfolio (maybe 15%-20% discount?) later instead of moving from Platinum to Portfolio (assured 25% discount) now. In this scenario I'd lose a little of the discount, but the cost will be structured better for me.

Whenever I consider an upgrade, I look at what I would pay for the additional items, not what they cost in LOGOS. For example, if there is a commentary that I would like to have, and it costs $500 in LOGOS as a stand alone purchase, but I would not be willing to pay more than $100, I count it as a $100 item. When I've done this with all of the resources that I want from the new package, I make the purchase if the value to me is greater than the cost.
Using this logic, upgrading from the old Platinum to the new platinum was a no brainer for me, whereas upgrading to Diamond didn't make sense.
Like the other pastors who have responded, Diamond just didn't seem cost effective to me. I went from L4 Platinum to L5 Platinum. I evaluated it again after the "we messed up" blog came out, but Diamond still doesn't look very attractive for the price to me.

Me too!

Personally found marginal upgrade difference between Logos 5 Diamond and Portfolio was less than 10 % of the regular combined price for wish list items so upgraded from Logos 4 Platinum to Logos 5 Portfolio. Thankful for Logos payment plan. Thankful for Logos 5 dynamic upgrade pricing; 2011 Christmas purchases reduced Logos 5 upgrade cost.
A friend upgraded from Logos 4 Platinum to Logos 5 Silver then purchased Logos 5 Minimal Crossgrade for less than $ 7 and is waiting for a reply from Logos Sales => http://blog.logos.com/2013/01/we-messed-up-and-were-sorry/
