Upgrade to Logos 5

I upgraded from Logos 4 to Logos 5 Diamond. Then a week later I moved to Portfolio. It was my understanding from the "We messed up" blog post that I would have saved money going directly to Portfolio. Am I mistaken? I emailed sales and was told I got the best price available. Can someone confirm or deny this for me?

Your situation appears to be exactly what the email claimed to be taking into account.

Confirm. You lost some of your original discount once you upgraded to L5. I went from Platinum to Platinum and once I did that the upgrade discount to Portfolio decreased and my total price to upgrade to that went up from what it would have been to upgrade to Portfolio directly. I don't think the answer from sales is correct. Ask for a review of this.

How did you go from Diamond to Portfolio? If you bought from the web, yes, you should have a refund. But if you bought from a sales rep who knew his job and took care of your interests, your Diamond should have been 'returned' at that time and Portfolio bought instead, rather than on top, of it, in which case the e-mail from sales is correct. Unfortunately, not all sales reps do know their job, and not all of them do put your interest first. Try looking at your receipt, both the e-mail one and the one on the web (they sometimes look a bit different when it comes to credits). Perhaps you can figure out from there if Diamond was 'returned' or not.

This is really amazing. Luckily I'm Original Languages and couldn't upgrade (not in school and of course would have to guess at its contents before purchasing).

fgh is correct on this. If you "returned" your Diamond and then upgraded from L4 to Portfolio, you received the best discount. And, as Mark said, if you did the two-step deal, from L4 to L5 Diamond and then to L5 Portfolio, you did not get the best deal.
