resources missing

Hi. I downloaded logos 4 upgrade and now I don't have any library books under 'library' 1228 book lists are there but when i try to read the books with a click, i got the same message all the time, that is, 'resources missing.'

I am using windows vista. Would you let me know what might be happening with my new logos 4?

The only time I've encountered your particular problem was when books were still downloading. It sounds like you've finished the install process.

I would go to this folder C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Logos4 (it's hidden). Can you find the folder with your book files (I would just give it to you, but I'm on a mac and I can't remember the exact folder)? If they are there I might look for the librarymanager.db (I think that's the name) and delete it and then restart logos and let it rebuild that file.

After that, I'm at a loss... I will give way to any more experienced tech support people.

I just saw your post in another thread saying that you didn't have any of you Platinum LE resources. Try typing EDIT: "update resources" into the command line (make certain your internet is turned on). This command should locate what book files are missing and download them. Try this before my previous post.

If you don't see any resources there, please tell us which base package you have for Logos4, and what you have in Logos3 (if anything).

Kevin is right - the two commands you want to remember are:

1. Update Resources

2. Update Now

These will keep your resources and the program up to date.

The command is update resources (not updated resources). It's worth trying.

Note this command will take several minutes to run, so give it time to do it's thing.

If that doesn't work you may need to delete your resource index and re-index. If the above doesn't work, someone here will tell you how.

This problem is one of using the same Logos ID to synchronize your licenses as the one you use to access logos.com. Note this is usually the email address you used when you first purchased something from Logos. It is not necessarily the same as your current email address.

To do this, you will have to exit Logos4.

Then go to this folder (it will be slightly different in Vista):

C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\[random numbers]\LibraryIndex\

Delete everything in this directory.

Restart Logos4 and let it index. Do not interrupt the indexing process. This can take several hours, for the Platinum edition, depending on your system specifications, this can easily take 10 hours or more - be patient! (In some cases, with a very fast machine and lots of RAM, this can take much less time.)

Yes, if you log in with the wrong user id then Logos can't obviously sync licenses or download books. Given what has been reported, that seems like the most logical answer. If the info is lost, then call CS.

From the Desktop Open My Computer and follow these steps:

Click on your hard disk drive (usually "C")
Click on "Users"
Find your Vista Log-on name and click on that
Click on "AppData" If you don't see it, that directory is hidden. To unhide, it open Control Panel and select "Folder Options" From the "View" Tab select "Show hidden files, folders and drives. Click "Apply." Then switch back to Windows Explorer. If you don't see it yet click on your drive letter and then click on "Users" and your user logon name again. You should see "AppData" now (in Vista it may be "App Data" or something similar).
Click "Local"
Click "Logos4"
Click "Data"
Click the random string of numbers and letters
click "Library Index"
Delete everything here.
Exit Windows Explorer and restart Logos. It should start indexing now.

If you get lost in any of the above steps, tell us which one, and maybe I or someone else here can help.

Is this just an issue of the resource not being completed as yet?

I used my email address, not original ID, for login, and I was able to login.

Chuck, these are the two interlinears that haven't been completed yet. If you look at the fine print on the comparison chart (it was fairly recently updated) you will see this is the case.
