Would really like to have Logos 5 but due to my income as a missionary I am unable to come up with $75 a month. I use version 4 and I can see the benefits of 5. Oh well such as life.
have you considered the minimal crossgrade? you wont lose any resources
Hi Orvel - and welcome to the forums
Are you aware that a free "engine-only" upgrade to L5 is due out sometime this quarter?
Graham
Hi Graham, thanks for the reply
Yes I looked at that , the only upgrade to 5. Even the $43 a month is out of the question,we have to run on a limited budget,;because things here are vry expensive. I do try to buy book once in awhile..
Orvel
FREE Orvel, FREE! (Logos will release Logos5 engine free in a 'short while').
By the way, we appreciate you missionary efforts!
Orvel - I don't think you understood Graham. In the not-too-distant future, there will be a FREE upgrade to L5… this will be the "engine only" (no new resources or datasets will be added). It sounds like you might have an L4 base package. Is that true? If so, another option would be to pay for the "minimal cross grade." This will add the new datasets needed to get the new features. I think it should be $159 or less if you own an L4 base package ($21 mo).
Hi Graham,
What is the 'minimal cross upgrade? And what is the difference between it an the 'engine-only' upgrade to L5?
How could I get the minimal cross upgrade?
I have Logos 4
Hi Orvel
What is the 'minimal cross upgrade?
The minimal cross grade contains the new databases and features in Logos 5 (along with the new UI and some other enhancements)
And what is the difference between it an the 'engine-only' upgrade to L5?
The engine-only upgrade (which will be free when it becomes available sometime this quarter) will provide the new UI but not the new databases and associated features (such as Clause Search, Bible Events, Bible Sense Lexicon, etc)
The best description of these is on the Logos blog at http://blog.logos.com/2012/11/5-ways-to-move-to-logos-5/?utm_source=blog.logos.com&utm_medium=blog&utm_content=textlink&utm_campaign=l5upgrade
For minimal crossgrade and the free engine you need to look at Options 4 and 5 in that article.
Go to the Logos website and their upgrade page at http://www.logos.com/upgrade and select the minimal crossgrade package.
Hope this helps
in addition to the excellent advice you received from Graham and the others here, you may want to check out the Core Datasets upgrade. The product page shows a detailed comparison to the Minimal Crossgrade. Basically,
